About WVS

WVS is a UK registered charity whose emphasis is on providing a sustainable veterinary resource to help animal welfare organisations around the world. Based in the village of Cranborne, Dorset, WVS supports over 800 animal charities in more than 100 different countries. On average 2 WVS veterinary teams are sent every week and in the past 5 years, more than £1,300,000 worth of veterinary aid has been provided.

In the last couple of years WVS has rapidly grown and recently moved to a new office, providing greater space for an expanding team. Major projects including International Training Centres in India and Thailand, wildlife conservation in Zambia and the ambitious ‘Mission Rabies’ project to eliminate rabies from the world by 2030, have all contributed to the greater public awareness of the organisation and the life-saving work being carried out.

WVS has a global presence with a reputation for providing a fast action veterinary response to charities and animals in need. With an ambitious 5-year vision, WVS requires motivated, enthusiastic individuals at the core of the team to help with its fast paced development.

Overall Purpose of the Role

  • To promote the WVS brand, key messages and fundraising opportunities to all it’s members, supporters and stakeholders via all appropriate marketing, communications and publicity channels.
  • To reach out to the general public to increase the membership and support base, both in the UK and internationally.
  • To manage all of the charity’s social media and to help engage existing and prospective supporters.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the key contact for all marketing and advertising enquiries and to evaluate opportunities presented to the charity to maximise ROI within the marketing budget.
  • To explore and identify marketing opportunities for the charity and its projects in order to promote the brand and raise awareness.
  • Develop and maintain corporate partnerships for the growth of the organisation and to maximise fundraising events.
  • Write and design the fortnightly e-newsletter, including new volunteer projects, fundraising activities and latest charity news.
  • Provide regular posts / tweets to the followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This will include the gathering of information from WVS associated charities and WVS projects abroad.
  • Writing and researching copy for web content and marketing materials.
  • To design all marketing and promotional material including leaflets, posters and banners.
  • To promote WVS at trade shows, events and through community talks around the country.
  • To support our overseas marketing activities and work closely with the teams from WVS Australia, WVS Thailand and WVS India.
  • Using Google Analytics, provide monthly analysis and reporting on the performance of WVS websites.
  • Maintain the Google Adwords account with a focus on generating high performing campaigns.
  • Provide a supporting role to the WVS team during the organisation of disaster emergency response work and other daily tasks.

Key Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A good knowledge of Photoshop with the ability to design leaflets, promotional material, newsletters and corporate literature.
  • Social media skills (Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / YouTube).
  • Technically competent in publishing content online through a CMS package.
  • Experience of Google Adwordsand SEO techniques.
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at one time, under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Ambitious and creative with the enthusiasm to help build this rapidly growing charity.

Additional Information

All WVS staff participate in an overseas trip at least once per year. As Marketing Manager, this may include visiting/working on a WVS project or attending an international conference.
