A reclassification is defined as a gradual change of knowledge, skills, responsibilities and scope of authority required of a position. Reclassification is not an increase in workload nor an employee’s capability to perform the skills or responsibilities that are outside of their current classification. In addition, reorganizationof your department or assignment does not automatically result in a reclassification.

The main purpose for a reclassification is to recognize that a position has changed in description due to a gradual increase in duties that require additional knowledge, skills, responsibilities and scope of authority required of the position.

HOW TO COMPLETE THIS APPLICATION:

  1. Obtain a copy of your current job description to use as a guide (it will also need to be returned with this application). A copy of your job description was recently e-mailed to you or you may request a copy from Human Resources (225-0307).
  2. Complete the Job Description Questionnaire.
  3. Meet with your immediate supervisor (optional).
  4. Return the completed “Application for Reclassification” and a copy of your current job description to Human Resources no later than December 1.
