Membership Application10

Dear AMA Members and Students,

Welcome to AMA!! Want more than just a college education? AMA is the place for the ultimate experience and We Are Now Casting. We have an eventful year planned for you that will leave you wanting more. So I ask you, what is your role? This is the place to network, grow, and have the time of your life!

Your AMAzing Executive Board has been planning an eventful year with speakers, firm tours, socials, community service, internships, the AMA International Collegiate Conference, and hands-on marketing committees, plus so much more!

Professionally, AMA provides you with weekly speakers from all areas of marketing. This semester includes speakers such as the chief marketing from the LA Lakers, KROQ’s marketing/promotions director, the renowned Dale Carnegie Institute, Jack in the Box, plus many more! AMA will keep you posted on professional events offered by the AMA National Chapter and thinkLA. Also for the first time AMA will be premiering our professional dinner auction.

AMA’s long standing motto is “Work Hard. Play Hard.” Besides our professionalism, our parties are known to be infamous. Our first party “The Red & Black Party” and end of the semester party bus are sure to be memorable. As always, we will host the much anticipated social Broomball, play at Laser Quest, and much more! AMA ensures you will have a great time and make many new friends to add to your myspace. Everyone is invited to attend our social events, whether they are members or not – so bring your friends!

In the springtime, we are excited to attend New Orleans for the AMA International Collegiate Conference, where AMA has brought home for the past two consecutive years more than nine national awards. At the conference, students have the opportunity to attend professional workshops, listen to professional marketers, and meet recruiters. The AMA Conference is also a great way to capitalize your network by meeting other AMAzing members internationally.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions. I am here for you as your President and as a friend .

Remember AMA is here for you! The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. Come find your role in AMA!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Kwan
President

Dear AMA Members & Students,

On behalf of the E-Board and myself I would like to welcome all of you to another year in which the AMA plans to leave its mark on the Cal-State University Long Beach campus and the community.

Each semester AMA sets out to meet and exceed its goals. For the past several years the organization has been one of the most dynamic on campus. During the past year, the organization distinguished itself at the National Conference in New Orleans among the hundredths of schools in attendance from all areas of the United States. Through all of the hard work by the membership and the Executive Board, our chapter was recognized with 4 National Awards. This is an outstanding accomplishment on the part of our organization especially given the level of competition that exists from all the other schools who participated.

Although a large number of members have gone on to graduate and start their careers, we are buoyed by the fact we have a large group of returning members and a infusion of new members which will keep us all striving to improve our organization.

It is important that all of you recognize your potential and the potential of this group to make a dramatic difference not just its members, but through our community outreach programs we can assist those whose lives are in need. Utilize your involvement in the AMA to not only grow as a young professional but as a human being.

As your Faculty Advisor, I am here to assist and provide you guidance, whether on a professional or personal level. I look forward to another exciting year in which AMA will settle for nothing but the best.

Best regards,

Professor Tomlin

AMA Member Contest

The more you become involved in AMA the more you get.Literally! Simply come to AMA meetings, events, and become involved and you can WIN BIG this semester!

Description: Each AMA member will receive points for events they attend. Every couple of weeks, AMA meetings, those members with the most points will be announced. At the very last meeting, the AMA member with the most points will be announced.

How do I play?

Only AMA members are eligible for this contest. If you are already an AMA member great! If not, simply fill out an AMA membership application before the due dates ($68 early application before Feb 23 and $78 by March 9). Don’t worry, you have until March 9 to become a member and AMA will keep track of everyone’s points until the late deadline; after March 9 only paid AMA members are eligible to win.

What do I get?

The winner will receive a gift basket* full of prizes, FREE entry into all AMA events for the next semester, and the AMA Honorary Member Award (looks great on a resume!). Those who come in close will receive an AMA member recognition award, which also looks great on a resume.

How does AMA keep track of points?

AMA has a list of paid AMA members (new members will be added), and that will be used to document which members are eligible and are attending the events. Each event is worth a certain amount of points and at the end the semester, the member with the most points wins.

Your responsibility: At each event there will be a sign-in sheet for the AMA member contest. Because of the number of people that usually attend AMA events, it is your responsibility to sign yourself in at each event. If you forget to sign yourself in or you do not write you name clearly, no points will be given. This is the easiest way for AMA to keep track of who is attending events, so that points are given fairly.

Are AMA events the only way to receive points?

No, AMA members that join committees also earn points.

Member of an Eboard committee: 15 points

Member of the Conference committee: 20 points

You can also earn more points by recruiting your own friends for AMA! : 1 point each

* Should a tie occur each member will receive an award and entrance to all AMA CSULB local events for free. However, the gift basket will be split evenly amongst those who tie. By filling out an AMA membership application you agree that you have read these rules and regulations and agree to them. *
