CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR

Reports to: Director of Information & Technology Services

  1. POSITION SUMMARY: The Classroom Technology Coordinator (CTC) provides leadership for the planning, installation and implementationof classroom technology, including consulting and supporting users with classroom technology, conventional computer software, operating systems, computer hardware and peripherals. The CTC will supervise the Audio/Visual/Computing Specialist and the activities of other personnel withinthisarea.
  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  2. Analyzes resource requirements for completion of college technology initiatives; assists in bringing existing resources together to achieve college goals; demonstrates technology leadership and support for college technology initiatives; partners in supporting the mission of the college.
  3. Supplies direct technology support and consultation to faculty and staff by defining issues, implementing solutions, and formulating strategies for technology and computing needs, in a variety of settings, including instructional, administrative, and research initiatives.
  4. Oversees the procurement of classroom technology and manages and control of purchased assets including deployment and allocation.
  5. Utilizes help desk issue tracking software to manage and track issues, and communicates any reported service outages, providing updates to effected areas on a regular basis until resolution.
  6. Coordinates and participates in the day-to-day troubleshooting of classroom technology and computertechnology problems, routine maintenance, installations and repairs.
  7. Creates end-user documentation and technical guidelines for distribution electronically or in print.
  8. Works collegially with campus employees to determine technology needs, and collaboratively with peers to carry out departmental and campus-wide objectives.
  9. Maintain knowledge and expertise of current applicable computing technology industry strategies and technology evolutionary cycles/plans.
  10. Supervises technology support employees and student workers in the work unit.

  2. Support and enforce the IVCC computing and intellectual property policies.
  3. Contributes through participation on internal committees and in external organizations.
  4. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with specific coursework in Computer Science.
  • Experience in technology project planning and implementation.
  • Broad knowledge of personal computers and related topics.
  • Knowledge of networked system.
  • Vision for and dedication to the role of information technology within a college setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • A proven ability to make technical issues understandable and an ability to match technical opportunities to university goals.
