OUR YOUTH OUR FUTURE
The Future of Youth Services on Anglesey
Who:
The Isle of Anglesey County Council wants to talk to young people on the Island about how Youth Services can be developed in the future to make sure that they suit the needs of Anglesey young people in the 21st Century.
To make sure we get all the information we need we will be talking to young people, parents/guardians,and anyone who provides a service for young people including clubs for young people, schools and organisations such ashousing agencies, health agencies, the Community Safety Partnership, andCommunity Councils.
Why:
We would like to talk to you because:
• The Welsh Government now wants Youth Services to work with small groups of young people or individual young people who may need more support to move towards or into work or training.
•The County Council needs to look at how much it is spending on all its services and look at how they could be delivered differently and at less cost.
•There has been a drop in the number of young people attending youth clubs in the last two years.
We will be looking at the services we already run including:
- youth clubs
- the support given to young people to achieve certificates such as The Duke of Edinburgh Award, ASDAN Awards and Agored Cymru Certificates;
- the work on health and wellbeing led by the Alcohol Outreach Worker
- Outreach work such as the Red Cross Bus and the work of the Llais Ni youth forums
- the work of supporting young people over 16 years old who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEETs)
- youth work in schools and
- work with other key partners to promote the Welsh Language.
The information you give us will be used to produce a report and recommendations for the County Councillors to decide where to spend the money available, making sure that this is what young people want. We also have to be sure that the services will suit young people as budgets get smaller over time.
When:
The consultation will start on the 2nd November and finish on the 11thDecember 2015.
How:
We will be using different ways of collecting information and you can take part in the following ways:
- Paper and online questionnaires on
- Through questionnaires and consultations in schools
- Focus or discussion groups
