INTRODUCTION

I remember some of the teachers that I had who have made an impact on me and my life. This is why I want to become a teacher. My desire to become a teacher is so great because I love working with kids. Being able to mold and shape young minds and share experiences with them is something that my past teachers did with me so I want to be able to do it with my future students.

I am achieving this goal by making sure that I get good grades and maintaining the good grades. I am also working with a family friend in her daycare. She is teaching me how to care and teach the kids. I work there three days out of the week. I also help on some Sundays with the nursery at my church. I feel that I am getting enough experience to help me pursue my future career in teaching.

EDUCATIONAL EXPECTATIONS

Georgia State University is known for producing some of the best educators. For this reason, I want to attend this school. To be admitted into Georgia State, I must have a high school diploma, my SAT scores verbal must be 430 and mathematics should be 400. If I decide to take the ACT, I will need a 17 on both the English and Math part. I will also need a 3.0 or higher GPA from high school. Another criteria the school looks for in admitting students is that they are involved in extracurricular activities…….

TIMELINE

My plan is to graduate from high school in the year of 2017 with a 3.5 GPA and a high school diploma with the college seal of distinction. I will either enter into Georgia State or Clayton State University for my four years. I will graduate with my bachelor’s degree in education in the year of 2021. My ultimate desire is to be on the dean’s list for my grades. After I graduate in the year of 2021, I will like to become a teacher either in Clayton or Henry County. It depends on where I am located at. …..

Interview/Shadow

I interviewed Dr. Manns. Dr. Manns is an 8th grade teacher at Campbell Middle School. She has been teaching for fourteen years. She loves her job although she has some days where it can be frustrating. Originally, she had planned to become a lawyer but after working at a daycare for some months, she decided to become a teacher. Dr. Manns graduated from Atlanta Metropolitan College with an associate’s degree in Teacher Education. Then she graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education ………

I asked Ms. Manns what are the highlights of her teaching career, she said that that being able to see her students graduate from high school and college are her highlights because she had a hand in their success.

Conclusion

After interviewing Dr. Manns and doing my research, becoming a teacher is still my dream…..
