For students of the last year ofliberal arts, under the age of 25, who prepare master (diploma) theses on history and current affairs of the Eastern and Central Europe in the broad meaning of the field from the scope of contemporary history of Central an Eastern Europe (history, political science, international relations, sociology, culture, ethnology, geography, law, economics). Participants of the school may come from Eastern Europe,Balkans, Russia, Central Asia, Caucasus as well as students from Poland and EU countries.

I.CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

1.The School is meant for students of the liberal arts under the age 25 (in extraordinary situations older) who prepare their MA (diploma) theses on history and current affairs of the Eastern and Central Europe in the field of history, political science, international relations, sociology, cultural sciences, ethnology, geography, law and economy.

2.Participants of the school may be students from Eastern Europe, Balkans, Russia, Central Asia, Caucasus as well as from Poland and EU countries.

3. Participants are required to know Polish languageat a sufficient level to understand and make good use of the lectures.

4. The School program includes lectures (which will be conducted by an international team of outstanding specialists dealing with the region's issues) and seminars (one to be selected out of the four-five offered seminars), where each participant shall present a paper on his/her diploma thesis, as well as visits to academic institutions and libraries in Warsaw and Wroclaw and participation in the cultural program.

II.SCHOLARSHIPS

1. Candidates may apply for full or partial scholarships to cover the costs of accommodation, meals, participations in lectures, seminars and meetings of School.

2. The application for scholarship should be attached to candidate's documents.

III. DOCUMENTS

1. Candidates should fill in questionnaire available on:

and attach following documents:

a) letter of motivation;

b) curriculum vitae with photograph

c) letter of recommendation from the candidate's diploma thesis tutor (signed and scanned, in PDF format),

d) certificates confirming the knowledge of Polish language (do not concern candidates from Poland),

e) certificate from the faculty office, confirming that candidate is on the last year of studies.

f)the application for scholarship.

2. The final deadline for sending the complete set of documents is 20thJanuary 2017 r.

IV. STAY IN WARSAW AND WROCLAW

1. Qualifying Commission of the School shall make a decision about the list of participants till 5thFebruary 2017, and then all candidates will be noticed about the decision of the Commission.

2. A formal invitation for candidates who have been qualified for the East European Winter School 2017 will be sent via e-mail by 10stFebruary 2017at the latest. The original invitation, signed by the Director of the School will be sent by post. The appropriate Polish Consulates will receive lists of qualified candidates to facilitate the visa procedures.

3. Participant's arrivals to Warsaw–February 28th. Lectures and seminars of the School start-,1stMarch 2017.Trip from Warsaw – Częstochowa – Wroclaw - 4th March. 5th – 17thMarch – session inWroclawandinWojnowice.Departures of participants – 15thMarch 2017.
