Welcome to Southern Choctaw High, Home of the Indians!

We are excited about the 2017-2018 school year and look forward to continuing to provide a challenging academic environment in which all students are accepted, valued, and safe. We are confident that seventh-twelfth grade students will benefit from the dedicated group of teachers providing transition and from the specialized schedule in place for dual enrollment, ACCESS, and Career and Technical endorsements while in high school.

We are excited that qualified juniors and seniors are allowed to connect with Coastal Community College and obtain a certification in Industrial Maintenance and/or take dual enrollment courses. The ACCESS classes provided by the Alabama State Department of Education in connection with Troy State University allow students to graduate on time and have access to a wider variety of electives in a rural school district, thus provide a quality education to all students. All teachers are certified teachers in the State of Alabama. ACCESS provides the students the opportunity to take classes online before they begin college. This helps the students become College and Career Ready and prepares them for a bright future.

Southern Choctaw High School, a Title I school, utilizes the traditional seven period schedule. If a student connects with Coastal Community College, he/she will graduate with more credits than required by the Alabama High School Graduation Requirements and begin obtaining college credit while in high school.

Southern Choctaw High School is proud to provide opportunities for students excelling in academics and/or leadership to participate in distinguished organizations such as the following:

  • FFA-Future Farmers of America
  • SGA-Student Government Association
  • FBLA-Future Business Leaders of America
  • Beta Club
  • National Honor Society
  • FCA-Fellowship of Christian Athletes
  • Tri-M
  • The Pride of Southern Choctaw

Southern Choctaw High School is proud to provide a variety of athletic teams. These students must maintain requirements set forth by the Alabama High School AthleticAssociation. The athletic organizations are the following:

  • Cheerleader
  • Volleyball
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Softball
  • Baseball

All special events are strategically organized to protect instructional time. Additionally, many of our students participate in off-campus and on campus events. A spirit of collaboration by our faculty and staff members at Southern Choctaw High School ensures that the students receive the very best education and school experience possible. We look forward to surpassing our accomplishments by partnering with parents and other stakeholders to provide an optimal educational experience for all of our students.

Have a great year!
