A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Hazel Warner Cobb.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Hazel Warner Cobb, and we pause in silent reverence for her soul.

WHEREAS, Hazel Warner Cobb was born on March 14, 1920, a native of Madison County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Nicholasville, Jessamine County, Kentucky, and she traversed these earthly bounds on March 31, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Hazel Warner Cobb was the loving daughter of the late Lindsey and Laura Warren Warner, she was the devoted wife of the late Spencer L. Cobb, and she was also preceded in death by a loving sister, Valeria Hood, and a loving brother, Carter Warner; she was the adored mother of two daughters, Joyce Blackford and her husband, John, of Nicholasville, and Joann Giles and her husband, George, of Lexington; and she was the proud grandmother of Lisa Borders of Versailles, Susan Blackford and Patrick Geoffray, both of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Douglas Spencer Giles of Kingsport, Tennessee, and David Giles of Deland, Florida; and three great-grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Ostrouchov and Christopher Richolas Ostrouchov, both of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Alyssa Nichole Giles of Kingsport, Tennessee, a loving niece, Betty Montrosse of Albemcule, North Carolina, and two loving nephews, Bobby English of Nicholasville, and Alan Warner of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee; a loving brother-in-law, Clarence Cobb and his wife, Louise, of Louisville; a loving sister-in-law, Virginia Warner of Richmond, and a dear aunt, Gertrude Mulcahy of Nicholasville; and

WHEREAS, Hazel Warner Cobb was an esteemed member of the Jessamine County community where she was the first woman elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 1962 to fill the twenty-second District seat left vacant by the death of her husband; she was later employed by the Kentucky Utilities Company in the Public Relations Department for twenty-two years; she was a charter member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Nicholasville, and she also was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Hazel Warner Cobb has left a void that cannot be filled, and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Hazel Warner Cobb, and extends to her family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Hazel Warner Cobb.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Joyce Blackford, 1458 Hunters Ferry Road, Nicholasville, Kentucky 40356.
