Supplies Required for Food Demonstration Lessons

These supplies are for recipe demonstrations only. Marketing supplies are not included. Some sites may also require an extension cord which can be used with the demonstration table.

One Pan Spaghetti & Cheese Toast

1 (14-16) ounce can of carrots

1 (14-16) ounce can of crushed tomatoes

1 (1-1.5) ounce package spaghetti sauce seasoning mix

4 ounces spaghetti

3 100% whole wheat thin buns

3 teaspoons margarine

4 ounces mozzarella cheese

Small bowls and spoons or forks for tasting

Magic Fruit Pudding and Pyramid Parfait

1 or 2 (14 - 20 ounce) cans of fruit (buy 2 cans if using canned fruit in both recipes or 1 can of fruit for Fruit Pudding + fresh fruit for Parfaits)

1 cup reduced fat milk

1 3.5-ounce box of instant vanilla or lemon pudding

1 6-ounce container vanilla yogurt*

2 tablespoons WIC approved whole grain cereal*

*This only makes one serving which could be a taste test for about 4 people. You may want to make several servings, depending on class attendance.

French Toast and Apple Smiles

2 eggs

1/3 cup reduced fat milk

1 tablespoon cooking oil or margarine

6 slices 100% whole-wheat bread

¾ cup unsweetened applesauce

2 large fresh apples

½ cup smooth peanut butter

mini-marshmallows

Bean and Cheese Quesadillas and Breakfast Burritos

1 ½ cups ( about 1 16-ounce can) fat-free refried beans

4 eggs

¼ cup milk

2 teaspoons margarine

6 100% whole-wheat flour tortillas

1 cup WIC approved cheese, shredded

Salsa, if desired

Chicken Primavera

1 tablespoon of oil or margarine

¾ pound boneless skinless chicken breasts

2 cups frozen vegetables

1 small onion

1 14.5 ounce can reduced sodium chicken broth

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

1 ½ cups uncooked instant brown rice

Optional:

½ teaspoon dried oregano or basil

½ cup WIC approved white cheese, shredded
