Introduction
ACC parking rules and regulations were revised in 2005. Please read the following chart that summarizes these rules.
The operation of a motor vehicle on ACC property is a privilege. Each driver on ACC property is responsible for knowing and following the laws of the State of Texas and the regulations of the College.
All vehicles operated on ACC property must meet legal requirements for operation on any street or roadway in the State of Texas. The College assumes no responsibility for any vehicle or its contents while the vehicle is parked or operated on college property.

General Parking Regulations
Ø  All parking on ACC campuses is by permit only. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
Ø  A parking permit is no guarantee of a parking space; lack of a parking space is no excuse for violating any parking regulation. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
Ø  Parking permits are valid for one academic year, beginning with the Fall Semester. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
Ø  A parking permit may not be purchased by an individual that does not have official business with the College. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
Ø  A parking permit will not be issued to any person having unpaid violations or other outstanding ACC balances. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
TYPES OF PARKING PERMITS – NEW REGULATIONS FOR FALL 2005
q  Students - 1 yr. Permit – Student Parking areas only / ü
q  Continuing Education Students – Temporary Parking Permit – Student Parking areas only / ü
q  Faculty/Staffing Table Employees – 1 yr. Permit – Faculty/Staff Parking areas / ü
q  Hourly Staff – 1 yr. Permit. Must park in Student Parking Areas Only (NEW REGULATION FOR FALL 2005) / ü
q  Persons with a Disabilities – Display City Permit and ACC Parking Hang Tag – Park in designated parking area / ü
q  Visitors – Temporary Parking Permit (hours and date specified) – Visitors Parking or Student Parking areas only / ü
q  Vendors/ Contractors, etc – Temporary Parking Permit – Student Parking areas only. / ü
TYPES OF PARKING PERMITS – NEW REGULATIONS FOR FALL 2005
q  Owner of two or three wheeled motorized vehicles – Display Sticker – Park in designated parking area only / ü
q  Bicyclists – (No permit required) park in designated bicycles areas only / ü
q  WorkSource Staff/Clients – park in designated parking areas or student parking areas / ü
How to obtain a parking permit.
a)  Obtain and complete a Parking Permit Request form available from any Campus Police office or online at http://accweb.austincc.edu/accforms/forms/Pparkingpermitreq.pdf. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
b)  Bring completed parking request form, photo ID and receipt indicating payment. Receipt is not necessary if you paid for parking permit online or over the telephone. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
c)  If you pay for a parking permit at any Campus cashier office, obtain a receipt from the cashier to take to Campus Police. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü
d)  Faculty/staff may pay for permit through payroll deduction complete form obtained at (http://accweb.austincc.edu/accforms/forms/POLC041Parkingpermitpayroll.pdf). / ü
e)  Continuing Education students can obtain a Temporary Parking Permit for length of course from Continuing Education instructor. / ü
f)  Visitors can obtain a Temporary Parking Permit with (hours and dates) specified from the Campus Police Office. / ü
g)  Vendors, contractors or others who have official business must check in with Campus Police and can obtain a Temporary Parking Permit with (hours and dates) specified. / ü

Citations

ACC Campus Police may issue three types of citations; (1) citation for ACC rule violation, (2) Justice of Peace citations, (3) Municipal Court citation. All citations will be assessed a fine. ACC Police officers also have the discretion to issue a warning notice that carries no fine.
ACC Citation – see Fine schedule below.
Justice of Peace Citations – issued for State law violations. Appearance at JP Court. Fine assessed through Court.
Municipal Court Citations – issued for State law violations. Appearance at Municipal Court. Fines assessed through Court.
ACC Warning Notice – no Fines / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü

Fines

ACC Board of Trustees approves the ACC fine schedule; Justice of the Peace or Municipal Court Judges assess Court Appearance fines. The following is the ACC fine schedule for 2005-2006.
a)  No Parking Permit Displayed: $5.00
b)  Parking in Fire Zones, blocking or impeding entrances or exits: $10.00.
c)  Moving Violations - $10.00
d)  All Other Violations - $5.00
e)  Parking in Spaces Reserved for Persons with Disabilities - $50.00
f)  The same citation can denote multiple violations. Charges will be assessed for each violation. / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü / ü

Fine Payment – ACC citations only

a)  Payments due within 12 days of notice.
b)  Method of payment

1)  Mail copy of citation plus check to ACC Service Center.

Sanctions for non payment of fines and Habitual Violators – ACC Only

a)  Suspend parking privileges for up to one year for individuals who have not paid fines.

b)  Deny enrollment to individuals who have not paid fines.

c)  Withhold official transcripts and college refunds for unpaid fines.

d)  Suspend parking privileges for a period up to one (1) year for habitual violators.

e)  Impound vehicles of habitual violators.

Appeals Process – ACC Only

Appeals for ACC Citations or Suspensions will be heard within 30 days of the appeal being properly filed.

a)  Obtain an appeal form from the Campus Police Office or ACC Campus Police website http://accweb.austincc.edu/accforms/formsfrontpage/Ptrafviolappeal.html

b)  File the completed appeal form no later than twelve (12) days from the issuance date with the Campus Police office or the Campus Manager to the attention of ACC Chief of Police.

c)  Attach a copy of the citation to the appeal form.
