ABC DECK Building INC.

Employee/Subcontractor’s Job Description

The Employee/Subcontractor’s agreement, herein “The agreement,” is made and entered into on this _____day, of______, 2014, by and between ABC Deck Building Inc., (herein the Company) and ______(herein “the Employee/Subcontractor”) for the performance of the work as defined below.

SECTION ONE

Mission Statement

At ABC Deck Building we strive to be the best that we can be. We’ve achieved this by setting our standards and expectations above the industry norm and never accepting less. Our Employees, Subcontractors and Sales Personnel are the ones working side by side, day in and day out with the Homeowners, to make this process come together. It is required of all ABC Deck Building's employees, subcontractors and sales personnel to uphold and enforce our Company’s beliefs, policies, & processes, at all times. We will not accept less!

Having done ALL phase of work myself including: the building, deck repair/deck maintenance, deck lighting, designing, selling, marketing, hiring, and accounting has educated me on what goes on in the industry day-in and day-out; thus I appreciation for each and every one of you doing it today.

SECTION TWO

Belief

ABC Deck's Building belief is very simple; Little Things Make a Big Difference!!! This is where our competitors fall short and why Tailor Decks is Atlanta’s premier deck company and growing. If you choose to be part of the ABC Deck Building's team, it will be expected of you to share and carry out this belief. Failure to do so will lead to separation.

SECTION THREE

Expectations

People who choose to do business with ABC Deck Building's have very high expectation. ABC Deck Building's goal is; let’s not only meet our customer’s expectations, let’s exceed them. Believe me, there’s nothing more rewarding at the end of a project then to hear “You’ve exceeded our expectations”. We have made this a habit to hear from our Customers. It wasn’t easy to come by; it’s taken hard work, determination, sacrifice, and the most important ingredient, “Caring”

To exceed someone’s expectation, first starts with caring about them, their needs and their wants. You can tell when someone cares about you right, other people sense it too. Caring about someone or something is not only shown through words; it’s your actions also. That’s where ABC Deck Building excels.

Project should always be perfect, but to exceed someone’s expectation, is done through a smooth and pleasant process which consists of doing all the little things. Some people would say that’s going above and beyond, to ABC Deck Building's it’s the norm and our Standards.

Let’s talk little things, where does it start? It starts with slowing down and thinking of others first. Example: The job site should be clean of trash and organized at all times. This shows the homeowner you have respect for their property and family. WOW, what a statement!!!

Homeowners are people too, they understand things come up. It’s how you handle it when it does. Don’t ignore it, push through it? We are human, and unfortunately we make mistakes, own up to it, don’t accuse others, or come up with some lame excuse. It not only makes you look unprofessional, it insults people’s intelligence.

SECTION FOUR

A Crew Leader

Becoming a crew leader is not meant for everyone, it takes an unique person. It's not only a lot of responsibility, it's also very inconvenient. You have to be on the job at all times which includes doing the work yourself, At ABC Deck Building we feel to keep the highest quality and for you to make the most money possible, you need to have the passion of doing the work and learning the system before teaching it to others. Your crew should be a two or three person crew until you have learned the ABC Deck Building system. However, if you are on a big project and there is a lot of digging and wood to carrying, a fourth person is permitted.

SECTION FIVE

Reflection

Believe it or not, your work is a reflection on not only the Company, but yourself. Take pride in your work, don’t cut corners and just get by. At ABC Deck Building, a project is not just a paycheck; it’s an ongoing relationship, and future business.

Doing 95% of the project well is unacceptable; the other 5% stands out like a sore thumb. Train yourself to slow down and to do all the little things. You’ll enjoy the process; your work will be perfect; and you’ll end up building something you’re very proud of. The end result is; you’ll be happier and make more money.

SECTION SIX

Training Others

Training others is necessary to all companies growing and can be very rewarding. At ABC Deck Building, we don’t believe in the “trial and error theory”, or just hop in there and do it. If you’re the lead person, it is your responsibility to slow down and take the time to explain everything, and show others how it’s done. Find the least inconspicuous location and let the person try it themselves. Come back in a minute or so and check their work, make any correction if needed, good chance they may not be doing it totally right. You may have to do this step several times and you should make it a habit to assure it is done correctly right. The consequences of it being done wrong, outweigh slowing downand taking a minute or two of your time. I know this by making the same mistake time and time again myself. It can be very costly!

SECTION SEVEN

Team Work

The hardest thing about being the best and growing a company, is building the right team. It is true, there is no I in team. ABC Deck Building's theory is; the Company looks out for the Employees, and the Employees look out for the Company. If you do not believe in this theory, there’s no place at Tailor Decks for you.

Over the years there have been many employees, some really good ones, and some not so good. The best employees have been team players; people who care about the company first, and basically are giving people, now on the other hand, how about the not so good employees. They are always complaining about the work, wondering how they can make more money, taking short cuts, and never taking any responsibility for their mistakes. This employee sucks the life out of everyone around them and will not be allowed in the ABC Deck Building's Family.

As a Team Player it is your responsibility to see that everyone is abiding by ABC Deck Building's job descriptions and report it if someone is not. It not only cost the company money it is costing you also.

SECTION EIGHT

Order and Discipline

This may be the toughest section and the most important section. To be successful and the best at what you do, there needs to be order and discipline, which is much easier said than done. In ABC Deck Building's Employee/Subcontractor’s Agreement and ABC Deck Building's Construction Manual, we have outlined in order how to build the best deck and in the most efficient manner.

If you feel there is an easier way or better way something should be done, restrain yourself from taking it upon yourself to change ABC Deck Building's Methods. Once you have followed ABC Deck Building's Methods and you feel you may have a better way to something, please bring your suggestion forward. Your suggestion will be considered and, if approved, ABC Deck Building's Construction Manual will be changed and everyone will abide by the new suggested method. This is what makes ABC Deck Building's grow and stay on top.

By choosing not to follow and implement ABC Deck Building's Employee/Subcontractor’s Agreement & Manual will lead to termination.

SECTION NINE

Challenging Yourself

Whatever challenges are placed in front of you embrace it, don't run from it. How you deal with challenges will be different for each and every one of you, myself personally, it comes from within me and my faith.

Example of a challenge: It’s late Friday evening and I'm down to my last board to finish up and it's a bad board. What do I do, use it or head to the supply house to purchase a good board? My outlook is you may fool the customer and get by with it, but I didn’t fool the Lord. Who we are really working for first, yourself, other people, or the Lord?

SECTION TEN

Relationship & Dealing With the Customer

It is required of you to be cordial to the customer at all times even when they're not. If you have an issue with a customer, it's your responsibility to inform the Company of the issue not take it upon yourself to handle it. The Company will determine what is the best way to handle the issue and proceed forward.

It's the Company's responsibility to make suggestions to the customer, not yours. If you have a thought, restrain yourself from discussing it with the customer, bring it to the Company. If a customer should ask your thoughts on an issue, once again restrain yourself from answering it and defer it to the Company. This includes but not limited to construction matters such as: (1) design (2) electrical (3) plumbing (4) cleaning and staining (5) roofing (6) pricing (7) referring other contractors.
