Chaperones in Training (CIT’s) will have the opportunity to participate in the leadership aspects of a Sr. High Mission Trip. The goal of the position is to provide a variety of experiences that offer the opportunity to learn management/leadership styles from the chaperones, different aspects of mission work, and successfully interacting with a group of youth. This position can be challenging and also very rewarding. Working with youth can be difficult, but it is great to see them overcome challenges, grow in their faith and experience the environment of mission work.

The following are descriptions of a variety of CIT responsibilities. We will do our best to rotate responsibilities, giving the CIT’s exposure to all areas of the mission outreach experience.

·  Respect of those we are serving/Safety/First Aid

o  Maintains CVPP protocol at all times

o  Respects and supports the Kingswood Covenant

o  Is a mentor and role model for the youth

o  Safety first

o  Hydration

o  Responds to first aid situations

·  Devotion Leader

o  In coordination with Chaperone devotion leader

o  Present devotions or helps facilitate

o  Encourage discussion about daily devotion though out the day

·  Activities/Morale leader

o  CIT’s interact with ALL youth

o  Facilitate inclusion, respect for all, and a positive attitude

Job Description and Responsibilities for Senior High Mission Trips

·  Youth mentor and Small group leader

o  Be attentive to youth interactions

o  Provide avenues for youth to openly express concerns, fears, etc.

o  Keeps Coordinator informed of all youth struggles, concerns, etc.

o  May lead open &/or small group discussions

§  More relaxed than all group meetings

§  Youth may be more comfortable in small group setting

o  Respects CVPP protocol at all times

Chaperone In Training Qualification Standards

·  Minimum 2 years of work camp or similar experience

·  Minimum of one year after June graduation from high school as well as at least 19 years old and less than 25 years old

·  Member of Kingswood as well as the following requirements

o  Sunday morning worship attendanceà 6 times per year

o  Church and/or campus ministry events attendanceà 2 times per year

·  Approved by Kingswood Sr High Mission Trip Coordinator and clergy staff

·  CVPP approved

·  Background Check
