MAN counting on Russia
PKF Stroybeton receives first Russian MAN truck
At the Comtrans international trade fair for commercial vehicles, which took place from September 10 through 14 in Moscow, MAN Truck & Bus handed over its first Russian-produced truck to customer PKF Stroybeton, a Moscow-based manufacturer of building materials. The truck plant in St. Petersburg had been running in test mode since the beginning of the year when it was granted its operating licence and was able to officially start production in July.
"MAN is counting on Russia's success. Today, PKF Stroybeton takes possession of the first MAN TGS made in Russia and can at the same time rely on proven German quality from MAN," said Jörg Mommertz, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus Russia, during the press conference at the fair.
MAN Truck & Bus investing in Russian service network
More than 50,000 MAN vehicles are currently operating on Russia's roads. That means that the company has by far the biggest vehicle population of all west European commercial vehicle manufacturers. In its striving to provide the customer with perfect service, MAN already offers a comprehensive service network of around 60 outlets.
MAN is investing approximately 50 million euros in the medium term to expand the network still further. In this regard, particular emphasis will be placed on the professionalization of the services offered by service partners. As early as the beginning of 2013, MAN opened its own service outlet near St. Petersburg, with an area totalling approximately 25,000 square metres. MAN invested ten million euros in its construction and has created 150 new jobs.
TGS EfficientLine saves up to 3 litres on Russian roads
At the Comtrans, MAN presented the results of the "Consistently Efficient" Tour, which this year took place in Russia. Its two trucks covered an overall route of 10,000 kilometres to demonstrate that MAN can offer Russian customers the best solution on price and cost performance, optimized for local conditions: On the Tour, a TGS WW semitrailer tractor optimised for the Russian market, with an aerodynamically optimized cabin and MAN TipMatic transmission, saved up to 3 litres of fuel per 100 km by comparison with a conventional tractor.
"With the 'Consistently Efficient' Tour through Russia, MAN proves its effectiveness for long-haul transportation. We found out that EfficientLine package optimized for Russia pays back after a one year already. That is a strong incentive for every of our customers,” said Heinz-Jürgen Löw, Executive Board member Marketing, Sales and Services at MAN Truck & Bus AG.
