PROQUEST MANUAL LOGIN

The Manual logins are needed to access the search platform only for the remote access, off campus.Whether the users access the search platform from in campus (i.e. within the authorized IP addresses) or off campus (via the manual logins) the My Research area will still be accessible only by using a My Research id.

In order to be clearer:

Case A - in-campus access:

1 - Search phase- they reach PQ without need of logging in, and they see something like this, or a customized nr of databases:

So they can immediately start making searches, saving results on their pc, etc.

2 – using My Research- If they want to save Documents, or save the search or create an alert, they will be required to access My Research.

- if they want to access My Research, they need to log in with their My Research id.

At the top right corner of the page they will find access to My Research:

In the next page:

Either they use an existing My Research id, if they had one, or they can register by themselves and create one.

Case B - remote access,

1 – search phase- if they want to make searches, they try to reach the PQ website, they will see this:

AND they need to login using the Manual login in the Username and Password boxes. Then they can do searches, save results on their pcs, etc.

2 – using My Research – works exactly as for Case A: to save searches or create alerts,

they’ll need to access My Research with a My Research id, either an existing one, or they create a new one.

In either case, the My Research id is not the same as the Manual Login.

The administrator creates and maintains the Manual Logins.

The user creates individually the My Research id, which is for the exclusive access of the personalized area:
