Dear Parents/Guardians:

Happy Friday! Super busy week with preparing for the end of year assessments and exciting school events! We have started our NWEA MAP spring assessments (reading, math, science) to measure students’ academic progress. The majority of our students are hitting their targets! Students who meet their year growth target in all content areas assessed will receive their Academic President Award!

The After School German had a fantastic learning adventure at Frankenmuth! Thank you to all the parent volunteers and especially Mrs. Gaylord for making this field trip a memorable field trip!

Genesee STEM Academy salutes our Kindergarten graduates and 6th Grade students! We are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to your continued success. Thank you parents for selecting GSTEMA for your child’s educational journey. We sincerely appreciate your support and commitment to the GSTEMA mission and vision. “Teamwork Makes a Dream Work!”

On Tuesday, June 15 we will be celebrating the many parent and community volunteers who have supported our staff, students, and parents through-out the school year. Hats off to the volunteers of GSTEMA, we applaud your contributions!

As we approach our last month of school I wanted to remind parents of the commitment to follow our GSTEMA student calendar. Students are expected to attend 190 days of school ending Wednesday June 22nd. Attendance is critical for state funding, school report card grades, and most importantly student academic performance. We need your support to make sure every student completes the school year with great attendance!

STEMNETICS is sponsoring our second STEMNETICS night, a time for students and parents to enjoy STEM activities! Please, join us Wednesday, June 15 at 6pm.

We have been blessed by STEMNETICS and the Michigan Science Center, Detroit with a grant to take all our students to their phenomenal science center. Students will be engaged in scientific exploration and visit the IMAX Theater! To qualify for the trip students must demonstrate good attendance through June 17 and have zero suspensions. Our free sponsored trip to the Michigan Science Center is Monday, June 20, departing at 8:45 am and returning approximately 3:15 pm.

Parent volunteers needed to help us pack up our school. If you can donate any time to assist us with the move, please come and join the fun, there is much work to be done.

Sincerely,

H. Rita Cheek
