JOSHUA CROWELL

Education: I graduated from MonacheHigh School in 2002 and then enrolled in PortervilleCollege where I earned as AA degree in liberal arts. I transferred to CSU Bakersfield originally intending to pursue a degree in Anthropology, but discovered that I didn’t like dirt so I opted for a degree in Business Administration with concentrations in MIS and Accounting. I graduated in June 2007 and decided to come right back to school because I figured it would be much more difficult later in life.

Experience: My first job was an anthropology tutor at Portville College. After I graduated I worked for a year and a half for a law office in Porterville, where I got to help do some database work and wrote research memos for some of the different legal issues on the case we were working on. I then decided it might be easier to work and live in the same town, instead of commuting every day as I had doe before, so I got an internship at the Kern County Water Agency in the Water Resources Department where I documented some of their business processes to help them design a database, scanned and summarized contracts, and made edits to board documents. My next job was as a GIS intern with Kern Council of Governments where I was trained on how to use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Software for various government issues. Upon graduation I was hired back as a permanent employee at the Kern County Water Agency, where I now work in the Business Management Department. I do cash management, banking, handle some insurance matters, and am being trained now in the yearly budget cycle.

Enjoyment: I really like to just hang out with friends and family and do things like watch movies and drive around. I like to read, although I don’t have much time for that now that I’m in school again, and I think that I might someday like a job where I could travel.
