A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Glenn Alexander Price.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Glenn Alexander Price, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, Glenn Alexander Price was born on October 30, 1908, a native of Gaston County, North Carolina, and longtime resident of Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on February 13, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Alexander Price was the loving son of the late James Doyle Price and Janie Vance Price; he was the loving brother of a sister, Helen Harwood of Leesburg, Florida; he was the devoted husband of the late Mary Alice Higdon; and he was the adored father of a son, Glenn A. Price, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky, and two daughters, Barbara Ann Epperheimer of Lenexa, Kansas, and Susan Ellen Spalding of Lexington, Kentucky; and he was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Alexander Price, upon his graduation in 1929 from Davidson College in North Carolina, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves. He served his country with distinction in the Army Air Corps Signal Corp from 1940 to 1946, being assigned to the European theater of operations during and after World War II, where he was awarded the Bronze Star in recognition of his work in building communications networks, and upon separation from active duty, he continued to serve in the United States Army Reserves until retiring in 1968 with the rank of Colonel; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Alexander Price was a long time executive with Southern Bell and South Central Bell Telephone Companies, retiring in 1973 after 44 years of service in Owensboro, Paducah, Henderson, and Louisville, and holding the positions of District Plant Manager, State Personnel Relations Supervisor, State Construction Supervisor, Louisville Construction Supervisor, and Division Plant Supervisor; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Alexander Price, after retirement from Southern Bell and South Central Bell Telephone Companies, embarked on a third career by enrolling at the University of Louisville, where in 1976, he proudly received a Masters of Science degree in Community Development on the same day that his son, Glenn A. Price, Jr., received his Juris Doctor; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Alexander Price will be remembered as an active and involved citizen of the Jefferson County community where he was a member of numerous organizations and was involved in many public service activities; he was president of the Kentucky Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America; he was volunteer Director of Communications at the Kentucky Civil Defense headquarters; he was Mayor of the City of Kingsley; he was Chairman of the Jefferson County Government Conference, an organization of small cities in Jefferson County; he was a member of the Morton-Wyatt Task Force to merge Louisville and Jefferson County governments; he was a member of the Metropolitan Area Zoning Commission; he was Executive Director of Neighborhood Organizations in Support of the Environment; he was Treasurer of Strategies for Environmental Control; and he was the first lobbyist for the Kentucky Conservation Commission where he was a thoughtful and responsible advocate for strengthening environmental legislation in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Alexander Price was a devout member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and he was also a member of Christ Church Cathedral and St. Alban's Episcopal Church; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Glenn Alexander Price has left a void that will be difficult to fill, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Glenn Alexander Price, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. The passion, dedication, intelligence, and social consciousness Glenn Alexander Price brought to this Commonwealth will never be forgotten, and his influence will continue.
Section 3. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Glenn Alexander Price.
Section 4. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Glenn A. Price, Jr., 2335 Village Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40205.
