Celgeneis seeking Research Associates in Synthetic Chemistry for our R&D facilities in New Jersey. In this important role, you will contribute to the design of scaleable synthetic routes and processes to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients, facilitating the transformation of molecules from discovery into marketed products to improve the lives of patients worldwide.
This professional will support synthetic organic chemistry and/or process development efforts for high priority drug candidates. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to solve challenging scientific and technical problems related to the synthesis, scale-up, and quality of a wide variety of molecules. The reaction schemes you help discover will play a critical role to enable preclinical and clinical development of the drug candidates. Your scaleable technology will then be transferred to the manufacturing sites where it will be used to produce high quality active ingredients for our commercial products. Other responsibilities include documentation of your research for technical reports, external publications (as appropriate), and patent applications, and compliance with pharmaceutical good manufacturing practices.
This position requires a Bachelors degree in chemistry (with a concentration in organic chemistry) or Masters degree in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline. Opportunities are available for candidates with all levels of experience, from entry level to industry expert. The candidate should have a solid understanding of modern synthetic, spectroscopic, and chromatographic techniques. Good problem solving skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and excellent oral and written communication skills are also essential.
