GUIDELINES AND EXPECTATIONS

Dear Explorers and Advisors,

The Wisconsin Police Explorer Academy is expected to allow police Explorers in the Wisconsin area to learn police procedures based upon their skill level. It is important to recognize that like a law enforcement agency, the Academy will be treated as a “quasi-military” program. Explorers will be expected to work as a team whether it is through a partnership, platoon, or the entire Explorer body. The goal remains as it is with true law enforcement…teamwork and cooperation to achieve a common goal. Like a military setting, failure to comply will result in justifying actions and perhaps consequences. None-the-less, a structure is necessary to ensure organization, and integrity of cooperation.

EXPECTATIONS

ALL EXPLORERS/ADVISORS MUST BE ON-SITE AT VOLK FIELD BY 11:00 AM on MONDAY, August 15th, 2011. REGISTRATION MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE 11:00AM ON 08/15/11.

·  All Explorers will be assigned a partner within his/her level squad. It can be expected that Explorers from the same post will not be paired together.

·  Level Advisors will serve as the 1st line supervision for each level. Explorers are to report directly to the level Advisors for any concerns.

·  Each morning will begin with the raising of the colors and Roll Call.

·  Explorers will not be allowed to use tobacco products while at the Academy. It is important to respect the health of fellow Explorers, as well as promote the health standards optimum for becoming a law enforcement officer.

·  Uniform T-shirts will be provided to Explorers and Advisors alike. The color of the shirt will signify the level of which the Explorers belong to. The uniform shirt will be worn during all formal training during the Academy. The Explorers will be responsible to provide proper footwear, pants/shorts for the Academy. The pants/shorts must either be BDU style (dark color), or athletic pants or shorts (dark color).

·  Advisors are serving as instructors and supervisors during the Academy. All advisors will be shown proper respect in passing and when addressing.

·  Linens for bedding will be provided for your use at the Academy. A towel, however, for showering, will be needed.

·  At the conclusion of the Academy, a formal closing ceremony will be held. EXPLORERS AND ADVISORS ALIKE ARE REQUESTED TO BRING THEIR POST/AGENCY UNIFORM FOR THE CEREMONY.

·  The Explorer Academy has received the good fortune to utilize training areas and equipment of Volk Field. Please treat all training locations, materials, and instructors with respect.
