BAE Systems Military Air Information Community Sponsorship Request Form

Due to the high-level of sponsorship requests BAE Systems Military Air Information (MAI) receives, a set of criteria has been developed to help identify requests that will be supported. These are aligned to both the Company’sCommunity Investment strategy and Giving Policy.

Criteria:

The current criteriaare as follows:

  • Community activities that promote Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM)with young people;
  • Activities that develop the employability of young people;
  • Activities that are linked to the Armed Forces, Armed Forces charitable organisations or the Cadet Forces;
  • Activities that preserve and/or promote the heritage of BAE Systems and its predecessor companies;
  • Activities that make a positive social or economic contribution to the communities in which we work.

The request must be local to a BAE Systems MAI site orRAF Base where BAE Systems MAI has a presence.

While those requests that satisfy one or more of the above criteria will be given serious consideration, there is no guarantee that they will be successful in attracting funding.

The BAE Systems Company Giving Policy also provides guidance on sponsorships we can not support: These include, but are not restricted to:

  • Sponsorship of individuals;
  • Support for third-party fundraising;
  • Assistance with travel costs;

Also as a general rule, sponsorship will not be given to the same organisation if they have already received funding within the same calendar year. Also, if support has been provided for the event/activity in previous years continued support cannot be guaranteed.

Sports Teams

A large number of sports teams request sponsorship via this Committee, as a result a different mechanism has been established for those requests. A draw, held twice per year will take place, in which request for support to locals sports will be entered. Teams eligible for entry must include an MAI employee playing a significant role within that team’s organisation – this must be more than a playing role i.e. a coach, Club secretary etc. These draws will be advertised via the MAI Intranet site.

Education

All requests which are in support of projects from schools, colleges or universities should be forwarded to Cath Hargreaves, Early Careers (W23B), BAE Systems, Warton, Preston. PR4 1AX. Requests will only be considered if they support the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.
