Dear Families of 8th Grade Sutter Students:

The end of the year is fast approaching. I am sending this letter home in anticipation of the numerous questions we receive about the end of the school year for 8th grade students. It’s hard to believe that their middle school years have already passed. High school awaits them and so much more.

The following list of dates should be noted for your student and family:

May 21st: Students need to have ALL of their books for book return brought to school on this day. All books will be returned through science classes. Students who do not return their books will not be allowed to attend the Sunsplash trip.

May 22nd: We encourage families to come and share the joy of music at the last Serenade Under the Stars your students will experience as a Sutter student. Serenade will be on May 22nd from 6 – 9 PM. Bring the family, enjoy the fun, and relish in the good memories.

May 24th: Yearbook Signing Party 2:10 PM – 4 PM. This event is for students to enjoy a supervised time allotted just for 8th graders to hang out at school on their last Friday. They listen to music, sign yearbooks, and share fun stories. Please arrange transportation home for your student after the event.

May 28Th - 30th: Early Release 12:50 PM. Please note that 8th graders they will not return from Sunsplash on the 30th until 3:30PM. Please make transportation arrangements for the 30th.

May 29th: 8th Grade Promotion Practice and Celebration: The PTA will be providing a barbeque and music after promotion rehearsal for the 8th grade class.

May 30th : Sunsplash 9 AM – 3:30 PM. Students are encouraged to share a fun day in the sun at Sunsplash. They have all summer to “hang out” with friends and do other non school related activities. This is the last time for them to ALL be together before they leave for high school. Students not going to Sunsplash must attend school.

May 31st: Promotion will be held on Friday, May 31st at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony usually lasts for one hour and twenty minutes. Students need to arrive NO LATER THAN 8 AM and check into the gym. Parents may proceed to the football field home stands to watch their students receive their diploma. We ask that students dress in appropriate attire. Spaghetti strap dresses are OK, but please no strapless dresses. Students will be asked to put a t-shirt over strapless dresses if they are worn.
