SUU PARTICIPANT INSTRUCTIONS (PLEASE KEEP IN A SAFE PLACE)
The course “Advanced Reading Comprehension” has been approved as 5380-393 for 3 credits, costing $69.00. This approval is good for the Fall semester only. Please allow at least one week before the start of class to apply to SUU, activate your portal, and register for the class.
If you have already applied to Southern Utah University, have a Tnumber,and have activated your SUU Portal, please skip to Step 3. If you don’t remember your Tnumber or you haven’t been in the system to activate your portal, even though you have taken classes at SUU before, please contact Leilani Nautu at 435/865-8081.
Southern Utah University (SCPS) thanks you for partnering with us on this noble endeavor. Please follow these steps very carefully.
STEP 1: If you are taking an endorsement class for the first time, you will need to apply to the university prior to the start of the class.
Please follow these instructions to apply to SUU:
a) Go to
b) Select“Future Students Apply Now”
c) Find“Designated Applicants Only” (bottom of the screen)
d) Select“Continuing Education”, and then selectFall 2014
e) Select“Create New Account” (put in first name, last name, email address, and re-enter email address)
f) Select “Create New Account”
g) You will see the following message, “Your account was created/validated and a link has been sent to your Email address”
h) Open the email address you put in when you created your account, and then open the email that Christine Proctor has sent to you
j) Select “Set My Password”
k) In the next screen, put in the password you choose, and then re-enter that same password
l) Select“Set Password”
m)You will see the following message, “Your password was changed successfully. Please click here to return to the login page.” – select the word “here” in the message
n) In the box “Sign in Information” put in the email address you used when you created your account, your new password you just set, and then select“Sign In”
o) You will see the following tabs (please provide information in each tab as directed on the screen): Instructions (read them), Personal Information (put in personal information), Education (put in education information), Application (choose semester/term noted above, and put in rest of information), and Information (read the important disclaimer statement)
p) Select“Submit Application”
q) You will see the following message “Thank you for your application. Please contact the School of Continuing and Professional Studies for questions and assistance.” - select“ok” (it is not necessary to contact the School of Continuing and Professional Studies)
r) If you would like to print out your application you are welcome to do that (but it is not necessary) – Select“print to PDF”, and then send it to your printer
s) You will get an email message thanking you for your application – please wait 2 days, and then proceed to step 2 to activate your portal
STEP 2: Youwill need to activate your SUU portal (between Step 1 and Step 2 you must wait 2 week days in order for the system to update and recognize you).
Please follow these instructions to activate your portal:
a)You need to recall what email you used when you applied to the university
b)Go to
c)Select the box in the left hand corner that says “mySUU portal”
d)Select“Activate your account now”
e)It will prompt you to put in the email address that you put into the system when you applied to the university - put in the email address and select “Go”
f)The system will then generate an emailto the email you used when you applied to the university
g)Open the email from SUU in your email account thatyou used when you applied to the university, and then select “Finish Your Account Activation”
h)This will take you to the screen that prompts you to choose a security question (from the pull-down menu) and to type in an answer – choose your question and type in your answer, and then select “continue”
i)Read the “acceptable use policy” statement, select the box under “I Agree”, and then select “continue”
j)It will next prompt you to put in a password of your choice, verify your password by putting it in again, and then select “continue”
k)It will then display a screen that says, “Your account has been successfully activated” (the screen will show you your user name and your Tnumberyour password was the one you entered previously through these steps) – print this page for your records
l)The system will send you another email, to the email address you used when you applied to the university, that contains your username and your Tnumber (the password is the one you created)
m)Now you will be able to access the SUU portal – please proceed to step 3 in order to register for the class
STEP 3: You will need to register for the class using the following CRN 32486
Please follow these instructions to register for the class:
a. Access your SUU Portal (the user name and password created when you activated your account will be used) – the system may prompt you to verify your personal information – if it does follow the instructions and then continue
b. After accessing the portal, you will see two gray boxes on the left hand side of the screen. In the “Banner” box (the bottom left box) select “Student Menu”
c. Select “Registration”
d. Select “Add, Drop, or Search for Class”
e. Select the following term Fall 2014
f. You will see a screen that is titled, “Agreement to Pay SUU Tuition Charges Fee” – please read this statement
g. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the screen
f. Enter the Course Registration Number (CRN) given to you above in the space provided
g.Select“Submit Changes” – please IMMEDIATELYproceed to step 4 to pay your course fees
STEP 4: You will need to pay your SUU course fees. You have two options: one option is to mail in your payment (instructions are found at the end of this document); the other option is to pay your course fees online through the SUU Portal. If you choose to pay online. it is highly recommended that you pay immediately after registering. If you exit the portal after registering and don’t pay, the fee may not appear in your account for 48 hours. We recommend that you copy and paste your confirmation of payment and keep it in a safe place. Please note that our system can take up to 48 hours for the payment to appear in the portal.
Please follow these instructions to pay your SUU course fees:
a) Return to your account
b) You should see “Pay Now” in the upper right hand corner – select“Pay Now” (if you don’t see the “Pay Now” option refresh your screen - if you still don’t see the“Pay Now” fees in your account, please return to the SUU Portal in 48 hours and make the payment then)
c) Follow the instructions to pay your balance – it will take the system 48 hours to show your payment in your (don’t forget that is highly recommended that you copy and paste your confirmation of payment and keep in a safe place in case there are any problems)
STEP 5: You will need to pay your NUES Course fees.
Please follow these instructions to pay your NUES course fees:
a) Go to
b) In the “Payment for” box select “other”
c) In the “Course Number/Name” box enter EDRG 5380
d) Click the “Submit” button.
d) Payment Type, select “Credit Card.”
e) Complete the form and enter $106 for the amount.
f) Click the “Submit” button.
AFTER THE COURSE IS FINISHED MOST PARTICIPANTS WILL WANT TO GET A TRANSCRIPT THAT INDICATES THEY HAVE COMPLETED THE COURSE – IF YOU WOULD LIKE A TRANSCRIPT PLEASE GO TO STEP 6
STEP 6: You will need to view your unofficial transcript and then order a transcript.
Please follow these steps to view your unofficial transcript (it is highly advisable that you check your SUU portalfor your unofficial transcript prior to ordering a transcript - checking off that you would like to make sure that your semester grades are processed is not a guarantee that the transcript will include all grades):
- Access your SUU Portal
- After accessing the portal, you will see two gray boxes on the left hand side of the screen. In the “Banner” box (the bottom left box) select “Student Menu”.
- You will then select “Student Records”.
- You will then select “Academic Transcript”.
- You will then select which “Transcript Level” you would like to see (“All Levels” will show you all your credits)
- You will then select “Submit”
- This will pull up an unofficial transcript. Make sure your grades for all your courses have been posted before ordering an official transcript
Please follow these steps to order your transcript:
- Access your SUU Portal
- After gaining access to the portal, you will see a gray box on the right side of the screen titled, “Resources”. Select “Order Transcripts”.
- Follow the instructions on the screen (Steps 1-6)

How to pay for your course fees through the mail
Please include the following form with your payment to ensure that your payment gets applied to the correct account and course
SUU accepts Money Orders, Cashier’s Checks, or Personal Checks. Please make the payment out to Southern Utah University and mail it to:
