Student Announcements: (read to students)

An informational meeting is scheduled for tomorrow April 21, 3:15 in room 114 for any junior girl interested in participating in next year’s Junior Miss Scholarship program.

Prom tickets are now on sale and available in Mr. Lewis’ room (208) before school starting at 8:00am or in room 103 during lunch. The price is $35.

There is a driving class scheduled for Tuesday May 5th from 4:30-8:30 in room 114.

Yearbooks: Yearbooks are now on sale. The website is ybpay.com. The cost is $52 or you can pay in room 206. There is charge of $5 per each icon. Order forms may be picked up at front desk.

Style Shop: Girls, Glitz & Glam is now carrying new and gently used prom and pageant gowns. There are currently fifty gowns to choose from, with more gowns expected. You can pay with their layaway option. Contact Betty at 859-236-2005 for more information.

Club/Team Announcements:

HOSA will be selling Mixed Bags till next week. If anyone would like to order or see a catalog please see HOSA member or Mrs. Moore.

All senior National Honor Society members, please turn in your Individual Service Project by May 29th. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Mullins or Mrs. Day.

SKILLS USA: SKILLS USA is collecting used shoes for Water Step. Water Step supplies them to third world countries that need them. The collection box is in front of the tech center office. They do not have to be a pair or in good condition. Collection will continue until April 22.

Ephraim McDowell Camp Can Do Volunteers Needed: Volunteers must be 14 years of age and have a current TB skin test. Volunteer hours may be documented for school and/or community service requirements. Applications and additional information are available in the Guidance Office.

2015 GE-REGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: This national program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Regan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. Applicants should exhibit Leadership, Drive, Integrity and Citizenship. Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships – up to $40,000 per student. Rotary Club Scholarship: Four $1,000 scholarships will be given to graduating seniors in Lincoln County to be used for direct school expenses only. If selected, the check will be made payable to you and the school listed on the application. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Completed applications are to be turned in to Mrs. Jacobs in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 27, 2015.

Blue Grass Community Action Partnership Community Services Scholarship: Blue Grass Community Action Partnership Community Services Scholarship:$750 scholarship. Applicants must meet the income guidelines for the Community Service Grant program (125%). Recipients will be selected on the basis of need, academic record, and the merits of their applications. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 30, 2015.

BUSTER BYNUM EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP is a onetime $2,500 education scholarship made available to one deserving public school student in each of the fourteen-member southeastern states. Applications available in the guidance office and must be postmarked by April 30, 2015.

Scholarship Guidelines:

1.  The parent/guardian listed on application had a Gross Taxable Family Income equal to or less than $75,000 for each of the “Past Three Tax Years.” (For the purpose of this scholarship award, the “Past Three Tax Years” is defined as the 2012, 2013 and 2014 tax years.)

2.  The parent/guardian listed on application has been an active employee in public school transportation during the “Past Three Years.” This includes school bus drivers, aides, monitors, mechanics, parts clerks, foremen, managers, trainers, supervisors, directors, and inspectors that work in public education. (For the purpose of this scholarship award, the “Past Three Years” work history requirement is defined as the period since January 1, 2012.)

3.  The student applicant has at least a 3.0 (B) scholastic average, will graduate from a public high school, and will attend a post-secondary educational institution starting in 2015.

Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: the Chamber of Commerce Scholarship is open to any current, active FBLA student. Recipient will receive a $500.00 Scholarship payable to the college or university of your choice with confirmation of enrollment. Applicants must include 3 non-family recommendations (one page or less). Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Deadline: May 1, 2015.

THE JUDGE EARL BUTCHER SCHOLARSHIP: $500 Scholarship for a graduating senior from LCHS for use at a technical school. Applicants must be willing to be interviewed by Scholarship committee. Winner will be announced on Awards night. Deadline: May 1, 2015.

ELSIE MATHENY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Sponsored by the Stanford Business & Professional Women’s Club - The scholarship amount of $200.00 will be paid directly to the selected individual upon verification that this person is in fact enrolled in one of the programs listed in the qualifications. Participant must be female. Participant must be a Lincoln County resident and a senior at Lincoln County High School. Participant must be planning to pursue postsecondary studies in a vocational, technical, paraprofessional or bachelor’s degree program. Completed applications are to be turned in to the Guidance Office. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: May 4, 2015.

LINCOLN COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Two $500.00 Scholarship available to Graduating seniors who are majoring in agriculture or a related field (Biology, Environmental Science, Forestry, Fish and Wildlife, Ag Business, Ag Education or Engineering). Applicants must submit a 500 word, or less, essay stating the following: Tell us a little about yourself (any experience you have had or activities you are involved in, future goals) and why you think the future of agriculture is important. Applicants must submit a copy of their high school transcript. Applications must be turned in or mailed to the Lincoln County Conservation District. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: May 13.

LINCOLN COUNTY FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM : Applicants must be the child of a current Lincoln County Farm Bureau member family and must finish high school within the year they apply for the scholarship. Students must be graduating seniors and have a 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale in order to be eligible. Children of Farm Bureau insurance agents, secretaries, claims personnel, state and district employees are not eligible to compete. All materials must be post-marked by May 15, or if hand delivered, received in the county office by May 15. Applications can also be turned in to Edwina Jacobs in the LCHS Guidance Office. The awards committee will make the final decision on all cases concerning the interpretation of these rules and the judge’s decision is final. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

UK Scholarship: Any senior, planning to attend UK, who is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field such as; athletic training, physical therapy, nursing, etc and would be interested in working as a student athletic trainer at UK needs to see Mrs. Cooper for an application. Students must have a 2.75 unweighted GPA to apply.

Letter of Recommendation: If you need letters of recommendation for colleges or activities, pick up a Letter of Recommendation Personal Data Form in the guidance office. These must be filled out in detail and returned to counselors for us to write the recommendation.
