Sale of Advertisements / 1 / 5 days / Students will sell advertisements for the newspaper using professional practices, will complete contracts and maintain ad folders, and will maintain professional relationships with companies who purchase ads.
Ethics and libel / 1 / 3 days / Students will define libel and will list rules of ethical journalism. Student will apply these rules in production of newspaper.
Editing and AP style / 1 / 5 days / Students will edit stories according to AP rules; focus on numbers, punctuation, capitalization, titles, and headlines.
Interviewing / 1 / 5 days / Students gather information by conducting effective interviews.
Journalistic writing / 1 / 3 days / Students will employ 5 W’s and inverted pyramid and will balance interview quotes with information in writing stories for the newspaper.
Sports writing / 1 / 2 days / Students will recognize differences between news articles and sports stories and will compose sports stories for the newspaper.
Computer use / 1 / 1 day / Students will learn how to turn on and shut down computers, open essential programs, connect to network, and save and copy files.
