DENVER HOUSING MARKET INCLUDED IN

NATIONAL ROLLOUT OF MERITAGE “GREEN” HOMES

DENVER, CO. August 16, 2010 –- Meritage Homes has increased their green homebuilding practices and standards to highest level of any Top 10 national homebuilder. The debut of Coal Creek Village in Lafayette this Saturday, August 21st will showcase the Company’s strategic vision of becoming synonymous with green homebuilding. The community is the first-of-its-kind in the Denver region to offer price-included green features that will save homeowners up to 50% on their home utility costs.

Coinciding with the grand opening of Coal Creek Village is the completion of a special on-site Green Education Center. The center features informative displays that illustrate how Meritage’s green features help conserve energy, reduce costs and create a healthier home. Several of Meritage’s corporate executives will also be attending Saturday’s grand opening celebration, which will include a Summer barbeque from 12 to 3 pm. Among those in attendance will be C.R. Herro, Meritage Homes’ VicePresident of Environmental Affairs, who will be hosting a special green education session from 2 to 3pm. Herro has spent 20 years in national and multinational construction businesses as a corporate leader in environmental, land, and public relations, and has worked extensively with national and state industry associations to develop legislation and regulatory compliance tools. For those unable to make the afternoon session, Herro will be hosting a green educational session earlier in the day from 11 am to 12 pm at Meritage’s Meridian Village in Parker.

Meritage Homes has been at the forefront of energy-conscious homebuilding for the past 25 years. Today, they are the only large public builder to meet ENERGY STAR® standards in every home they build at no additional cost. In addition to lowering utility bills and using less natural resources, these homes also provide better indoor air quality for a healthier living environment. Meritage Homes will also be increasing the Company’s standard green initiatives at all communities nationwide in 2011 to offer many of the same features available now at Coal Creek Village.

Coal Creek Village offers homebuyers five new energy-efficient green home designs ranging in size from 2,062 to nearly 2,900 square feet with up to five bedrooms, three baths and a three-car garage. “These homes are a testament to the advantages of buying new and buying green. The annual energy savings alone can make the cost-of-ownership of our green homes less than a used home priced thousands less,” says Chris Presley, Division President for Meritage Homes.

Adding to the appeal of Coal Creek Village is the community’s ideal location in the heart of Lafayette. Residents are within easy walking distance of the city’s quaint downtown featuring boutique shops and award-winning restaurants. Homeowners will also enjoy easy access to Coal Creek Trail, Flatiron’s Crossing and DIA airport.
