Course Description
Gives meaning of Hadith and Sunnah: the nature of the Prophet’s authority, collection of Hadith during the Prophet’s time and four other stages. Development of the science of Hadith, investigation of sources and the scholars of Hadith, classifications, evaluation and authenticity of Hadith will be provided. The role of Hadith in the various disciplines will be provided.
The definition of Figh and the development of the history of Shariah will also be given. The fundamental sources of Shariah; Quran, Hadith, Ijma, Qiyas, the divisions of legal acts e.g. Haram, analysis of Figh with its branches (Ibaadat and Muamalat). The emergency of the Islamic schools of law and application of Shariah in contemporary society is another big area covered.

The course aims at providing the history of Hadith and how best Hadith can be applied to help the community live an exemplary life.
