This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, motivated, experienced professional Family Violence Practitioner to join RAV, working with the Family Violence team, across the North/West region of Victoria.

About the role:

Reporting to the Co-ordinator Family Violence Northern and Western Victoria,you will work across the full breadth of RAV’s family violence services this is a multifaceted position that will require you to:

  • Complete assessments for the suitability of clients seeking to enter our FV programs.
  • Deliver specific family violence group programs to men who have used violent and controlling behaviours towards family members.
  • Assess the safety of family members of the men participating in the Men’s Behaviour Change Programs (MBCPs) and provide them with access to support, information, program input and referral options.
  • Hosting of Partner and other support group evenings of participants in an MBCP and RAV FV programs.
  • Make professional judgements, offering feedback, support and challenge to ensure continuous improvement.

Skills required

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work,or a related Social Science discipline.
  • Completion of ‘No To Violence’ Graduate Certificate in Male behaviour Change Group Facilitation, Swinburne University.
  • Experience in the provision of high quality assessments of individuals and families, where family violence is an identified risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to analyse and undertake complex casework with women and children from diverse backgrounds who have experienced family violence.
  • Demonstrated ability to flexibly manage competing priorities and stressful situations, monitoring own stress levels and practising and promoting self-care strategies.

Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the Common Risk Assessment Framework (CRAF) and safety planning is highly desirable.

This role will be based at an RAV Centre in the North West and will require travel to other RAV centres in the North West region.

RAV centres may be open, depending on client demand and operational requirements, 1-2 nights per week or a Saturday morning. Depending upon the role and location, you may be required to work an evening each week or other working hours will be negotiated which may be outside of standard business hours, on a regular basis.

RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check prior to employment.
