MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

WOW! January ‘07 is here! Another year has passed. As my dad always said - time, tide and a woman driver waits for no man. I can attest to that!

Christmas has come and gone. I hope that all of you had a happy and blessed Christmas. The club party was a great success. The food was good and the gift exchange was fun for all. Thanks Dan for coordinating the event. I had planned to present the annual club awards to the selected recipients but none of them were in attendance. So I will present them at the January meeting.

As of now I know of eleven club members that plan to show their cars at the 33rd annual Austin Custom Car & Hot Rod Show that will be held January 19-21, 2007. The members signed up to show their cars are: Gary Brown '56, Pat Corbell '55, Garry Johnson '57, Willie Johnson '57, Bobby Marshal PU, Rick Perry '56, Tom Porter '56, Ronnie Raben '57, Robert Raben '57, Erik Wayerski ‘57, and Bob Zay ‘55. These cars make up a good representation of colors and models of our favorite cars. I know we always get positive feedback from the public on how they appreciate seeing them and some years we have recruited new blood into the club from the show exposure. Thank you fellow members for volunteering to show your cars!

The January club dinner/meeting will be held at Vinny’s restaurant, which is across the street from the Palmer auditorium on Barton Springs road starting at 6 PM on January 18, 2007, the day of move-in to the show. This is our normal meeting night of the month.

Lonestar XXV is four months away! The registration form has been finalized and it will be distributed to the public now. Dennis and I met with our new hotel coordinator recently to confirm that all of our show requirements are met and to establish what the banquet menu will be. I requested and received a spreadsheet from the Dallas club that contains the names/addresses of the attendees of the Dallas show. This will be used to generate a mailing list to send show updates to these people. All committees should have their function requirements defined and organized by now. I want to have a separate meeting with all committee people next month. Based on how it goes, we will decide how many meetings we need to have in the future - right up to the show

Happy New Year and I hope to see you soon!

Tom
