CRITERIA

W&RSETA’s Discretionary Grants for 2002/2003

This is a Special Skills Initiative Grant that allows employers to claim back a maximum of at least 10% of their levy.

The W&RSETA will use its Discretionary Grants to support the Strategies and Initiatives listed in the Sector’s Skills Plan of 28 February 2001.

Against this background, the W&RSETA has identified activities as priorities to be funded as Discretionary Grants to W&RSETA registered employers.

Employers who meet the following criteria may claim this grant :

The organisation’s Workplace Skills Plan and the Workplace Implementation Grant must have been submitted to W&RSETA during the current year (1 April 2002 to 31 March 2003)

Process:

  • The Grant Application form must be completed in full
  • Grant application must reach the W&RSETA by 30th April 2003

The grant is payable to employers participating in one or more of the following initiatives :

Active participation in SETA initiatives

  • Learnership Committee
  • SSP Working Group
  • ETQA Committee
  • Learnership Task Team
  • Participating in the Standard Generating Body’s activities
  • Provide services and or facilities to the SETA

National Skills Initiatives

National/Local Government initiatives such as :

  • ABET
  • Aids Training
  • Primary Health Care Training
  • Life Skills Training (Personal Debt Management)
  • Basic Computer Literacy.

Organisations participating in similar SETA Sponsored Projects cannot use the above National Skills Initiatives to qualify for the Discretionary Grant

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Organisations that conduct or perform RPL through an accredited Assessment Site or Provider to:

  • Assess and recognize employee’s competence according to the National Qualification Framework (NQF), in their organisation.

In house W&R Training providers

  • In - company providers by awarding a discretionary grant once the provider has achieved provisional accreditation (Delivery Site, Assessment Site or Delivery and Assessment Site)
