9.00am
11-ish
12-ish
1.30-ish / Meet at BYRONBAY for the CapeByron Lighthouse Walk
Our meeting point will be the car park at The Pass at the eastern end of ClarkesBeach – go through town and follow the beachfront road towards WategosBeach and take the left turn just when you come to the end of ClarkesBeach. [See map on next page]
Distance: I’m guesstimating around 5km
Time: Probably about 1½ hours
Track Description – Grade 3: Mostly on paved tracks, some beach walking on sand, lots of steps up and down steep hills. Great views and we’ll take a couple of little detours up to the Lookout and along the Palm Valley Loop. Be prepared for the big climb up to the Lighthouse.
Meet at BRUNSWICK HEADS for the Tyagarah Nature Reserve Walk
Our meeting point will be at the surf club – head through the little township and across Simpsons Creek on South Beach Road. The surf club is a little way along on your left. [See map on next page]
Distance: 3km
Time: Less than 1 hour
Track Description – Grade 2: Easy level walk down along the beach and back via the fire trail.
Lunch at the Brunswick Hotel
Meet at SOUTH TWEED HEADS to Walk on Water!
Our final meeting point will be in the car park at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre on the corner of Kirkwood Road East and Duffy Street. [See map on next page]
Distance: 1.1km
Time: 30 minutes
Track Description – Grade 1: This is really just an opportunity to walk off lunch on an interesting little stroll that goes past an ancient bora ring and onto an elevated walkway that passes over mangroves and the river.
Afternoon tea at SHEOAK SHACK at Fingal
Head back across the SouthTweedBridge and take the first turn-off to Fingal. Follow the road right along the river (it will be on your left hand side). Sheoak Shack is on the right hand side of the road, opposite the Fingal Dive Charters kiosk.
