TEACHERS

  • If you want Made from Scratch today, fill out your order form and get it to Ms. Mingua by 9:15 a.m. Box lunches are $6, and if you get fruit instead of a cookie, it is $6.25. Don’t forget to give a small tip!!!!
  • REMINDER! Let Ms. Mingua know if you have something going on in your classroom that is picture worthy. We are always looking for pictures for the School Review, etc. Also, I need to get an individual picture of each staff member. Please stop by my desk at your convenience.
  • Congratulations to Brent Merritt on being named KMEA District 7 High School Teacher of the Year. Well deserved!!!!!
  • Cardinal Kroger is closed today and Wednesday. However, Cardinal Kroger will begin their Healthy Food Campaign this week offering a healthy product of the day such as fruit.
  • Team Competition is scheduled for this afternoon at 4 p.m. in the library. Each team needs at least 3 team members present.
  • Wednesday, September 16, is Early Release. Our wonderful parents have volunteered to provide lunch for us on that day. We will have a baby shower for Mr. Landis, Mr. O’Bryan, and Mr. Radford. This will also score students’ ORQ’s.
  • The FYSC Advisory Council will meet on Thursday, September 17, at 9:45 a.m. in the upstairs conference room.
  • The Hong Kong Delegation will be visiting Scott County High School and the Scott County Ninth Grade School on September 23 between 10:30-11:30 a.m. There are about 12 visitors. Someone from the Delegation may stop by your classroom during that time. Just keep doing what you are doing!!!!!
  • As part of continuing our tradition of excellence, we will be taking our Class of 2013 CARDS photo on Thursday, September 24, during 3rd period (12 noon) on the turf field next to SCMS. In case of rain, the picture will be taken on Wednesday, September 30. Remind students that if they have not turned in their media permission form, they will not be allowed to in the picture.
  • Ms. Brown’s class will be selling the Georgetown News Graphic again this year on Thursdays. The cost is $.75.

  • Don’t miss out on Race for the Cure scheduled for September 26 in downtown Lexington. The official site is Points will be given to teams for team members’ participation. The cut-off date for joining the Scott County Schools’ Team is September 16. If you registered and ordered a shirt, Mr. Southworth will pick your shirt up and deliver it to you next week.

  • Don’t miss out on the 2009 MainSource Bank Black Cat Chase 5K Race and Fun Run/Walk sponsored by the Frankfort YMCA scheduled for Friday, October 30, at 7 p.m. at Old State Capitol. You can register online or download the race entry form.

STUDENTS

  • Students, we are enforcing our school-wide expectations. Star Attendance and Star Behavior has started, and we will be tracking your attendance and behavior.
  • Each month starting in September, we will be recognizing students recommended by their teachers and other staff members for displaying a character trait. September’s character trait is INTEGRITY.
  • Teen girls wanted! Did you know that Girl Scouts can help top quality students experience the opportunities of colleges and universities in the Bluegrass area? Teen girls can choose which campuses they would like to visit. Each school will provide campus tours, College 101 information from the Admissions Departments, and a unique program to their campus. Check out for registration and other information.

  • The Lady Cardinal JV Soccer Team won the Shelby County JV Tournament with three shut-outs against Shelby County (5-0), North Oldham (4-0), and Anderson County (4-0). Goals were scored by 8th grader Brenna Menke (SCMS) who had 2 andBrittany Cline (RSMS), Freshmen Taylor Borman who had 5 and Katelyn Miller, Sophomores Alicia Ducett who had 3 and Madi Buckby. The defensive team of Sophomores Shelby Ratcliff, Laura Combs and Freshman Danielle Branham only allowed their opponents 2 shots on their Freshman goal-keeper Savannah Cloe throughout the tournament. The team's next match is tonight at Western Hills. JV plays at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:30.
  • This week is Spirit Week! Today is Gender Bender, Tuesday is black Out, Wednesday is Sport/hat ($1 to wear a hat), Thursday is Tie Dye, and Friday is Cardinal Spirit. Show your spirit!!!!!!
  • Homecoming pictures were taken this morning at 8:15 a.m. Homecoming practices will be taken on Super Tuesday, September 15, and students will vote for their Homecoming Princess.
  • On September 15, the high school will be testing for 3 hours that morning. This is Super Tuesday and both schools will be on that schedule. If you have a class in the high school 1st and/or 2nd hour, please report to high school gym. If you have a class in high school 3rd hour, you will report to the auditorium.
  • Step Club tryouts are September 16 from 1:30-3:45 p.m. in the auditorium. You will be asked to do a one-minute individual step performance.
  • Don’t miss the Blue and Gold Blow Out 2009 Truck and Tractor Pull at the Scott County Community Park on Friday, September 25, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, September 26, at 6 p.m. Admission is $10, and kids under 6 are free. Proceeds go to the FFA Scholarship Fund.
  • The Scott County Youth Basketball (ages 4-17) signups are now online at You will receive an early discount now thru September 20, 2009. You can also stop by Sports Connection on October 3 from 12 noon-5 p.m. Let’s play ball!!!!
  • The Fall Clothing Closet through FRYSC is now accepting donations. It will be held on Saturday, November 14, at Harmony Christian Church. Ms. Knight is accepting good used clothes starting Monday, August 24, until Friday, October 30. She will be taking them to Harmony Christian Church.
  • Homecoming is scheduled for Friday, September 18.
  • Fall pictures are scheduled for Friday, September 25.
