SOME GUIDELINES FOR PASTORS AND BOARDS OF DIRECTORS IN DECIDING TO RECOMMEND/NOT-RECOMMEND A CANDIDATE TO ATTEND A REVM PROGRAM
1. It is recommended that an applicant to attend a REVM Program be a member of the local church for a minimum of 6 months before being recommended to attend REVM. Some of the things to consider at the local church level are:
- attendance
- involvement
- commitment
- consistency
- support (including financial)
- an understanding of MCCs unique ministry
2. Some other considerations
- identifiable gifts of/for ministry
- are you convinced of the applicant’s “call to ministry”?
- willingness to enter into a mentoring relationship with a local MCC
Pastor or Network Team Leader..
- academic ability to undertake/complete theological education
- embrace the concept of ministry within MCC as a global
denomination and an understanding of MCCs involvement in human
rights issues and the LBQTI communities.
3. This is an application to attend a REVM – “A Readiness to Enter Vocational Ministry in MCC Program”. It is not a recommendation about Ordination! This is the beginning of a journey towards Ordination – it is not the concluding stage!
