Mr. Scot Jackson
APHA President Elect
Scot Jackson of Stephenville, Tex., was recently re-elected to the American Paint Horse Association’s Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee on which Jackson serves is the APHA governing body that sets policy and is responsible for the association’s activities and fiscal integrity.
Jackson got his start in the horse industry as a young boy breaking and training ponies for the public. As the years passed, Jackson was involved in 4-H and FFA where he judged and showed horses. Upon moving back to Texas in 1973 he started showing Paints with his father, Dr. Bill Jackson, who served as APHA President in 1993. Through the years, Jackson has gained experience in many phases of the horse industry including training, showing and breeding American Paint Horses. The past two years he has also served in a management role at the APHA Summer and Fall World Championship shows.
Along with his horse management duties, Jackson has served in a variety of other capacities in the industry including six years as president of the Cross Timbers Paint Horse Club and as chairman of the Show and Contest Committee for APHA. He also judges Paint shows across the globe and performs growth and development consulting for racehorse farms.
Jackson serves on an Executive Committee that includes President Linda Vance of Winlock, Wash.; President-elect Dr. Travis Titlow of Lincoln, Calif.; Senior Committee Member Gregg Reisinger of Eldora, Iowa; Fifth Committee Member Mary Parrott of Ruston, La.; Sixth Committee Member Ron Shelly of Georgetown, Texas and Immediate Past President John Corbin of Colorado Springs, Colo.

A total of $800.00 will be donated to the CumberlandCountySPCA in Wendy Nichols name.
The Cumberland County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CCSPCA) was founded in 1891 and incorporated in June 1947, is a non-profit organization and a chapter of the NJ State SPCA. The staff and board of trustees are deeply involved and committed to all aspects of animal care and welfare. The money to finance the shelter comes from fees charged to municipalities to house their stray animals, fees charged to adopt, reclaim or release an animal to us, dues, donations, grants, fund-raisers and bequests from caring individuals.
In our function as a humane society, the shelter serves as a refuge for thousands of stray, unwanted, abused, abandoned and sick animals. The CCSPCA is the only law enforcement agency authorized solely for the protection of animals. Each year our cruelty agents investigate nearly 1,000 reports of animal abuse and neglect. Many times we can stop abuse through education, however, other cases require prosecuting the guilty parties. Each year our humane education programs. offered free to schools and community groups, reach thousands, teaching basic pet care, safety and the understanding that all living creatures deserve our respect. Each year our clinic provides the general public and thousands of animals access to our low-cost spay and neuter services. In addition to sheltering an protecting animals, the shelter also acts as a clearinghouse for the thousands of phone calls requesting information on animal related issues and problems.
