Seminar on

'SHIPPING INDIA- VISION 2020'

The purpose of the seminar is to cover and deal with the future trends in various sectors of the shipping industry as a whole. While no doubt the present economic slowdown and the global economic situation have dampened the spirits and hope of the shipping industry there are some positive developments taking place in the shipping industry which should not be lost sight of.Our Indian Government has now come out with an ambitious ‘National Maritime Programme’ which involve an allocation of Rs.1 Lakh Crore. Of the total allocation Rs.55,804 crore has been allocated for development work in the 12 major and 185 minor ports in the country while Rs.44,535 crore has been earmarked for shipping and inland waterways. There is a huge scope for employment opportunities in this field as presently the India’s manpower share is only 6% globally. There is an urgent need to develop quality manpower. in this sector. This Seminar is likely to identify all these areas of problems and opportunities and suggest ways and means to the practitioners of this trade to navigate the rough weather and move ahead with hope and confidence.
