VACATION STUDY GRANTS 2016-2017

Grants of £12.46 per night are available to all current undergraduates for essential academic work in Oxford during the vacation; up to a maximum of 30 nights per academic year from 1st August for students taking FHS examinations (including students taking examinations in the second, third or fourth year), 15 nights for those taking Prelims, Moderations, or Honour Moderations in vacation or compulsory vacation courses, and 10 nights for others. Those living out of College are also eligible. Grants are not available for students who are out of residence.

Students must apply for a grant before the end of Week 6 of the term preceding residence.

PROCEDURE

Application

Forms are available from the windowsill at the bottom of the Grammar Hall staircase or the College website. These require the signature of a subject tutor (who must be a member of the Tutorial Board), and the tutor must state in which category the application falls. Application forms should be returned to the Tutorial Office by noon of Friday of Week 6 of the term preceding vacation residence. No late or retrospective application will be considered. For those requiring College accommodation a separate, additional application for vacation residence through the Home Bursary is essential.

Confirmation of grant

Letters confirming the outcome of grant applications will be sent to applicants before the end of term preceding vacation residence, which includes a claim form.

Claim

Claim forms confirming dates of residence must be returned to the Tutorial Office by noon on Friday of Week 1 of the term after the vacation concerned. Vacation study grants are paid by crediting batells accounts.

Payment

Priority shall be given in the following order:

1. Undergraduates in residence for University examinations or compulsory vacation courses organised by the University and not funded by Departments.

2. Undergraduates making up residence and/or study through illness (up to one week; a medical certificate may be required; special cases involving longer illness may be dealt with by application to other funds.

3. Finalists who have no access at home to a university library, ie they do not live in London or within ten miles of another university.

4. Other finalists.

5. Other undergraduates who have no access at home to a university library.

6. Other undergraduates.
