Dr Sajjad Hussain Mirza is a Dow Medical College, Karachigraduate of 1982. He did his MCPS in 1985,FCPS in Microbiology in 1987. In UK he did his training at Royal London Hospital with late Professor J. D. Williams & passed his MRCPath from Royal C Pathologist London in Medical Micro & Virology in 1990. Attended Diploma in Clinical Microbiology/MSc course at London Hospital Medical College from 1990-1991 & qualified. He obtained Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Royal Liverpool University, UK in 1997. He was awarded FRCPath by RCPath in 1999. He has worked as Consultant in various UK hospitals since 1995, written more than 45 international/national papers in peer review Journals. Attended many International and National Conferences and presented more than three dozen papers in them. He is fully registered with GMC since 1992 and is on the specialist register in the subject of microbiology and virology. He is the member of British Society of Antimicrobial & Chemotherapy.He is also member of Healthcare Infection Society and Federation of Infection Societies. He is member of Wilpshire Golf club.

He has served as Dean Faculty of Microbiology at CPSP Karachi. He has been convener and examiner for FCPS final in microbiology since 1993. He is involved with Medical education since early 90’s and attended various workshops on medical education under the auspices of WHO collaborative center for medical Education at College of Physicians & surgeons of Pakistan, Karachi. He is an Examiner for FRCPath primary and final practical examination of the RCPath, since 2009. He regularly participates in College CPD on line scheme He is appointed as expert consultant to RCPath Consulting LTD. He has also been examiner of PBL based MBBS examinations at Aga Khan Medical University Karachi, Pakistan since many years.He is also an OSCE examiner for Preston and ManchesterMedical University. He has edited the book “Manual of Laboratory Medicine” He has been on the editorial board of Infectious Diseases Journal of Pakistan & Pakistan J. of Pathology. His research interests include typhoid fever and fungal infections.

He served ELHT Royal Blackburn Hospital as Consultant Microbiologist and Deputy Director of Infection Prevention & Control from 2008-2015. He joined UHSM in Feb 2015 as Interim Infection Control Doctor for the Trust. He is now Deputy ICD.

He is involved in teaching and training of both medical students (SSC/PEP supervisor), Manchester medical schooland alsoinvolved in teachingjunior doctors and has been Clinical Supervisor of foundation doctors. He is Educational Supervisor of Micro/ID registrars with NW Deanery. He is UKAS assessor. He has attended Leadership course in Infection Control at Warwick University, Northwest Deanery Leadership course and First ELHT Leadership course for consultants. He has been Medical Appraiser for the ELHT Trust revalidation process. He hascompleted Postgraduate certificate in medical education from Edge Hill University and qualified with Merit.

He has been awarded level3 excellence awards for his contribution to Trust Infection Control efforts.
