A placement year can be an important first step in your career with 3M and we treat you as part of our team from day one. The company is based in Ford, West Sussex and has been long established supplier within the non-oil and gas drilling industry. Role Overview: The Design Team are looking for a dynamic and technically excellent Undergraduate to assist with a variety of new engineering designs and current production projects. Your main role may be to assist the Design Engineer developing, analysing and optimising the design of sub-assemblies and parts in Solidworks. In addition, you may be required to assist in providing solutions to technical requests and maintaining design configuration management. Role Requirements: These roles would suit a bright and inquisitive engineering undergraduate with a keen interest in design and manufacturing. The candidates should be enthusiastic, outgoing and able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. CAD skills are essential and a good working knowledge of Solidworks would be a definite advantage. Some electro-mechanical or hydraulic power system experience would also be an advantage.
