of Employment:30 June 2020 (Pending future funding)

While the expected duration of employment is a permanent part time, the employer reserves the right to vary the term of the contract subject to the provisions governing termination, change and redundancy specified in the Award. In such cases, we would ensure that any termination of employment prior to the expected date of completion is carried out in a lawful manner. The period of notice of termination of employment specified in the Award would apply in any instance where the employer found it necessary to terminate the contract prior to the expected completion date and the employer shall not be obliged to pay the employee in excess of any entitlement under the Award relating to termination of employment.

Primary Functions

The Food Services Coordinator shall work under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer from whom they will receive instructions about the broader aspects of their work. The Food Services Coordinator shall be responsible for the arranging of their own work with reference to instructions from the Chief Executive Officer, workplace policies and procedures and established work practices.

Selection Criteria

Essentials

  • Experience implementing programs and activities to meet the needs of the community
  • Experience in the provision of direct services; including initial assessments, care plans and service coordination
  • Demonstrated experience in human resources coordination - staff and volunteers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills
  • Excellent administration and coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability in continuous quality improvement processes / outcomes
  • Able to perform the physical requirements of the job, which may include bending, reaching, lifting, standing, repetitive motion and other job specific requirements associated with packing of produce.
  • Knowledge of seasonal produce
  • Basic budgeting skills
  • Current driver’s licence and comprehensively insured vehicle

Desirable

  • First Aid certificate
  • Ability to speak a second language
  • Knowledge and understanding of CHSP/CCSP programs and agencies
  • Knowledge of the Eastern Sydney region, its services, programs and issues

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment is a Part Time position as per contract stated above.Must be available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  • The terms and conditions of employment are those applying under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award 2010 in conjunction with the National Employment Standards.
  • All employees of South Eastern Community Connect are bound by the properly approved policies and procedures of the organisation.
  • The employee is engaged as a probationary employee during an initial probationary period of three [3] months.
  • Your employment at South Eastern Community Connect is conditional to a Criminal Records Check under the legislation.
  • It is a condition of your employment that you must be fit to perform the inherent requirements of your position at SECC. Throughout your employment, SECC may require you to undergo further medical assessments either as precautionary measures or in the event that a matter relating to your fitness to work arises. It is a condition of your employment that you consent to the medical examiner providing reports about your fitness for work to SECC.
  • Up to date copies of the award, conditions of employment, policies and procedures are held in the office of South Eastern Community Connect.
  • Notice of termination. Following the probation period, your employment may be terminated by either party by a period of notice as specified by the NES. This does not affect the employer’s right to terminate your employment without notice where you are found to have engaged in serious and wilful misconduct.

Position Purpose

  • To oversee SECC’s delivery of Food Services (FS) to residents of South East Sydney and the Inner West, in accordance with funding and contractual requirements
  • To lead the development of FS in accordance with SECC’s strategic objectives, sector reforms and opportunities in the external environment
  • To lead and manage a team of direct reports

Performance Indicators

Key Accountabilities

Service Management

  • To develop, implement and evaluate the food services programs and projects that benefit the residents of South East Sydney and the Inner West.
  • To manage and administer funds in accordance with our funding agreements and the requirements of the Centre.
  • To ensure appropriate assessment, care planning and case coordination of service users to best practice standards.
  • To plan, purchase and coordinate the packing of bags of produce

Service Development & Evaluation

  • To manage and administer continuous quality improvement for FS within SECCs community care services and programs
  • Communicate, formalise and develop systems to ensure FS programs and projects reflect best practice standardsand are administered in accordance with SECC policies and procedures

Community Development and Capacity Building

  • To ensure that the service development reflects the issues of service users with special needs including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, the frail aged, carers and people who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
  • Identify, research and investigate internal and / or external new directions for FS and propose initiatives where required, taking into account community needs, and current / future community care needs

Human Resources – Staff and Volunteers

  • To work independently and contribute to the performance, values and capabilities of the team across the organisation
  • To support and supervise staff and volunteers appropriate to the provision of services

Accountability and Responsibility

  • To provide records of expenditure to the Centre Coordinator / Accountant as required
  • To oversee the collection, receipt and banking of fees and other monies
  • To collect and collate service statistics as required by management, particularly in relation to the DSS Data Exchange (DEX) and other State and Commonwealth requirements.
  • To provide monthly reports on the activities of the FSprogram to the Board of Directors.
  • To attend and report to Board of Directors meetings when requested.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that administration tasks are completed as directed.
  • Undertake other duties within the scope of this role as directed
  • Attend and participate in training and development activities
  • Uphold privacy and confidentiality in relation to service users
  • Comply with all workplace health and safety policies and procedures and cooperate with SECC in ensuring the health and safety of self and others
