MURDERER OF A GRANDMA

or

how the grandchildren killed their grandma and burned the body

Family is a foundation for the society and the society is a basis for the Nation. If the family is healthy and children are brought up well from the moral and physical points of view, there is a potential for the sustainable development of the society and the state. For this reason government is constant in its strivings after strengthening the families where children are well bred, they study at schools and possess professions.

The question is whether the efforts of government are enough to keep families and the whole society healthy?! If some parents, both fathers and mothers, do not take care of their families and children and people around are indifferent, what are these children going to be when they grow up?

The roots of increasing number of crimes and criminals go into these undesirable factors, which leave law enforcement institutions alone in this hard situation to fight against. We punish and put under arrest, but parents and other relatives complain about the undertaken measures, accusing us in unscrupulous use of power. However, parents and relatives of these young criminals have hardly ever thought- why they never paid attention to their children and never stopped them before they committed crime? And now, in panic, they growl about ruined by us lives of their children.

Well… now we let you judge yourself who is to be blamed in this story …

The resident of Kuchkak village (93, Polvonov Str.) in Konibodom, Negmat Boymatov with great hopes and best wishes had celebrated the marriage of his daughter Marifat and Murod Sodikov. He drew a sigh of relief and was quite happy to leave his obstinate self-willed and impertinent daughter’s fate in hands of a well-bred and hard-working young man. Negmat was hoping that the bride- groom would be able to “tame” his daughter and “bring her to his own rut”. But he never had thought, that if even a father could not do it, who else can cope with this task?!

Negmat used to deal with problems caused by Marifat just by himself and no one around knew about them, but now everybody in the two neighboring villages – Khamirdjuy and Kuchkak, knew all the “news” and an old man had a lot of hassle with it. Quarrelsome Marifat wasn’t able to find a common language neither with her husband, nor with her mother-in-law or any other members of her new family. She very often felt out with everybody and every time was coming back to her parents. For the day or two her father would set her on the right path and sent her back to her husband. Time was passing and Marifat gave birth to her three sons. They heard and saw how their mother called badly about father and grandmother and humiliated them. But in spite of it, their affectionate grandma loved them so much; she never grudge anything for them. Just sometimes, when they were disobedient, she chided them and the grandchildren - the inheritors of bad-mannered mother, hated that. More over, Marifat always took her sons’ side and Mohira (grandma) was always left in blame.

Mohira had seven children: two of her sons and four daughters had their own families and lived separately. In this house there were only an old woman, her youngest son, her daughter-in-law Marifat and their three sons. Never the less, Marifat quarreled a lot and every time was leaving the house offended. She could not resign to be tied up by the family, husband and mother-in-law for the rest of her life. Her heart was seeking for freedom and the soul willing to fly away. These dreams had brought her to a moment when she abandoned the family, instead of thinking of bringing up children, and after living with parents for a while, she decided to leave for Surgut (Russia) to look for a job. Mother’s disinterest and lack of care became the reason of Ghulom’s, the elder son, disease – tuberculosis. The doctors had sent him to the boarding school in Gigdalik village, where children can both study and undergo treatment. Ghulom spent 2 years there, until he was 14. The boarding school Supervisor А. Mirrahmatov mentioned the following: «For the period of two years Ghulom has recommended himself as a lazy, capricious and touchy pupil with poor knowledge of school subjects. During these two years no one had visited him at school. Perhaps, this child was born in an unhealthy family and nobody cares of his future…»

Marifat came back from Russia on March 2004. And instead of thinking about family rehabilitation and showing all her love to the children, she decided to apply to Jamoat for the divorce.

Jamoat workers were trying to bring her back to the family in vain. On April 2004 she took two younger sons – Mansour and Ibrohim, and left for Russia.

Mansour was a little boy when he was left careless and started smoking and drinking from about 8 or 10. There, in Russia, his mother was unable to manage her insufferable son and on 2nd of June 2004 being tired of his rudeness and theft she had sent Mansour back to Tajikistan, and left the God take care about him.

Mansour was just about 14 and he wanted the revenge. Every day with different reasons he comes to his grandma and calling swearwords takes away some things from the house. The old woman was fed up with all this and once, seeing no other choice, she said to her grandchild to go away and never come back.

Mansour did not like this demand and from that time he made a mockery of his grandmother even worse. Habibullo Gafurov, the minor witness, told about it in the court: how Mansour was threatening the old woman.

That sinister evening Mohira with no suspicion made up her bed in verandah. She was going to sleep not even supposing of her grandchildren, who made a plan to kill her. At about 10 o’clock in the evening, when it was getting cool, she fell asleep. Ghulom and Mansour went out of their cover. In his hand Mansour had an iron pin about 48 s-m in length and weight - 320 gram.

Ghulom took the pin from his brother’s hands and hit his grandmother several times on the head and neck. Fighting for her life she rolled down from the bed. Having recognized the murderer, Mohira squeezed: «Is that you, Ghulom?» When boys understood they are recognized, the two predators put her up again on bed, then Mansour sat down on her chest and started to strangle her with both hands while Ghulom was holding legs of the weakened old woman. As soon as they noticed her not moving any more, they poured fuel over the body, burned it and ran away.

These young men, who were born by the dishonest mother, had burned grandma’s body to cheat people – it happened because she was not careful with fire.

Dilbar Fozilova, the witness:

- For the long time we were neighbors with Mohira Mamadova. Mohira brought up 7 children and all of them are well bred. They all have their own families. All members of this family were always very patient and far from making quarrels. Peace in this friendly family was broken when Marifat - the new daughter-in-law, came in there. She was always falling out with everybody and could find a common language neither with her shy and hard-working husband, nor with her kind mother-in-law. Although Marifat had left the house, her children were often coming to their granny getting on her nerves.

On 9th of June I woke up early, at about 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning. As I noticed fire and smoke I ran to the neighbor’s house and suppressed the fire. When then I saw the burnt skeleton, I swooned from fear. As soon as I came to my sense, I called for the other neighbors…

In addition to his testimony Habibullo Gafurov said, that when he asked Mansour about the reason of his arrest, he responded with absolutely indifferent voice, as if he sacrificed a sheep or a caw: «I just killed grandmother», - and saying that he lifted up his hands – «omen».

Hanifa Nazirova, Mansour’s schoolteacher:

- Mansour became a thief and such a nasty person because his parents divorced and both left for Russia while their children stayed here with no care. He did not go to school and spent all day long loitering in the streets and market. No one school or teacher is able to deal with the situation where the child is limited in parents’ love and care.

One can only be surprised by parents’ behavior: they do stupid things and their children pay off. Marifat is to blame for the ruined family, for what her children became – murderers, who crossed out all their lives.

The court had already carried out a verdict for the young men – Ghulom Sodikov and Mansour Sodikov. Their parents – Marifat and Murod, are somewhere in Russia now, and the children are here, behind the iron door with cell window…
