ActivityWorker/Driver: Adur Community Clubs

Responsible to:Community Activities Manager

Responsible for:Volunteers, members, visitors and carers

Hours:12 hours per week, MondayTuesday

Main purpose of job:

Toassist the Community Activities Manager to provide assistance to

members with movement around the clubs, interaction, lunch service and

participation in activities.

To drive the Age UK West Sussex minibus’sas required to support theservice

and ensuringmembers and visitors aretransported safely to and from their

homes.

Main Duties: Driver

  1. To safely drive the Clubs minibus enabling service users to access AWS activities across Adur venues
  2. To carry out inspections before each journey including completing a Pre-drive Safety Checks form.
  3. To take a driver’s competence test for driving a minibus as and when required.
  4. To ensure First Aid kit contents, fire extinguisher and other requested equipment is available in the minibus for each journey.
  5. To ensure the minibuses are maintained in a presentable condition both inside and out at all times and the access way from the minibus drop-off point to the venue entrance clear of slip and trip hazards.
  6. To report any accidents or incidents immediately to your line manager.

Main Duties:Activity Worker

  1. To work with the Community Activities Managerto ensure the smooth operation of the service. Duties will include supporting members with activities, lunch and transport.
  2. To assist the Community Activities Manager in developing the activity programme within the service ensuring activities are appropriate, safe and stimulating and report members participation and feedback.
  3. To act as activity leader for some activities. To ensure all volunteers are supported and receive training where required.
  4. To work with the Community Activities Manager, Coordinator and Cook on volunteer recruitment and retention.
  5. To assist the Community Activities Managerto develop membership for the service to achieve income target and contract criteria.
  6. To assist the Community Activities Managerto fundraise for the service.

General:

  1. To act as an appointed First Aider.
  2. To ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained for the centre and any hazards are reported and dealt with immediately.
  3. Uphold Safeguarding policy reporting any concerns to Community Activities Manager.
  4. To comply with processes and policies of the Centre in line with AWS

management systems.

  1. To attend training and meetings as arranged with the Community Activities Manager.
  2. Undertake any other duties appropriate within the role as may be reasonably required by the Community Activities Manager.

Knowledge / Understanding of the needs of older people / Working with volunteers.
Experience / Experience of driving minibus or other large vehicle. / Working with older people.
