MEN’S Rules & Regulations
FALL WINTER LEAGUE 2015/16
1. OFFICIAL RULE BOOK
-The official rules used will be the Canadian Ball Hockey Association rulebook, 2012 version, with a few exceptions, rules change for Winter League play.
2. MEMBERSHIP
-
-Players may play for more than 1 Men’s team in our Winter Ball Hockey league, as long as they are properly registered and but can only play for 1 Team in the Playoffs.
3. PAYMENT OF FEES
-Full fees are due prior to start of the league
-Once the league starts the season, no money will be refunded by the league
4. TEAM PLAYER FINES & SUSPENSIONS
-Player fines and suspensions will be same as Men’s 2015 Summer league (attached to these Regulations)
5. TEAM ROSTERS & REGISTRATION FORMS
-Individual player forms can be handed in prior to your first regular season game
-All players must sign individual registration form/waiver
-Any forged signatures, player and team rep suspended for the season
-Teams will be allowed to register 25 players on their roster plus a coach-manager
-A maximum of 20 players can dress for a game … you do not have to dress a back-up goalie
-Players wishing to change teams once signed must obtain an official release
8. LEAGUE BALL
-The official ball of the league shall be the D-GEL ball … No other balls will be allowed
-Each team must supply 1 balls every game to the referee
-D-Gel balls are available from the BHE Office or from the East Soccer Centre for $2.50 per ball
9. GAMESHEETS
-The gamesheet will be pre-filled just like the summer league
10. LEAGUE SCHEDULE & PLAYOFFS
-Each Men’s team will play a 16-game regular season schedule for Winter League plus playoffs
-After the 6 game mark, teams will be re-tiered based on their team records
-The playoff formats will be determined by the league and distributed to all teams
11. GAME FORMATS
-Teams will play a total of 2 periods, length of 25 minutes each
-These periods will run straight time, except the last 1 minute of the game
-Teams allowed 1 timeout per game
12. OVERTIME
-5 minute overtime (4 mins straight, last minute stop) 4 on 4
-In the playoffs, if a game is tied Ot same as reg season, after 5 if still tied –then shootout
-4 players + goalie on the floor
-The shootout is same as the NHL … 3 shooters per team, then 1 shooter per team if no winner is determined
14. MINIMUM NUMBER OF PLAYERS TO START GAME
-All games must be played with a minimum of 6 players present on each Team
15 TEAM COLORS
-If there is a conflict of uniform colors, the home team shall be responsible for changing
-League has several sets of pinnies and they are available from our Rink Supervisor
-You must leave a drivers license as a deposit … lost/damaged pinnies must be replaced
16. ALCOHOL, DRUGS, SMOKING IN RINKS
-Any teams/players found with drugs or alcohol in the arena, may/will be fined and suspended
-The entire building is smoke free
17. THE EAST SOCCER CENTRE
-Any type of damage to arena-dressing room, team will be responsible for repair costs
-Teams are responsible for their fans
-All teams must follow Edmonton Soccer Centre building rules, listed in the rink itself
-All Soccer Centre building rules and fines are in place
18. SOCCER CENTRE ADMISSION PASSES
-We have no choice … we must follow the Soccer Centre rules in regards to admission passes. If a player does not produce an admission pass, he will have to pay the single day admission fee to get into the building.
-All teams will get 20 player admission cards at the start of the year … it is the responsibility of the team rep to pass these on to his players.
PRIVACY STATEMENT
Ball Hockey Edmonton requires personal information from players on the individual registration forms. The type of personal information required on the form includes address, phone number, and date of birth. This information collected is strictly used for identification purposes, and on occasion, we will use the info to contact a player in regards to league issues. This information is NOT sold, traded, or distributed to anyone or to any company. It stays with us and is locked securely in our offices. The only access to this information is by the League President, the League Manager, and the League Registrar. After a 1 year period, the individual forms that were filled out are shredded and destroyed. For more information on our privacy statement, you may contact the league at 944-4090.

* Officials include all referees, timekeepers, League Executive and any Contract Staff who work for

* Players who accumulate 3 suspensions in a single season will have an automatic review by the
Disciplinary Committee. Further fines, suspensions or player bonds may be implemented by the
League
* Actions deemed serious enough to bring in the Soccer Centre staff may/will result in Soccer Centre
Discipline that is above and beyond Ball Hockey Edmonton
* All suspensions are automatic and the player must sit out the next game(s). Fines must be paid PRIOR
to the player returning to League play, failure to do so will result in further fines/suspensions. Players who
are suspended and continue to play will be suspended for the remainder of the season. Team Reps who
allow a suspended player to play may also be suspended as well as the Team fined.
* All above suspensions/fines are guidelines only and the League reserves the right to increase the fines
and suspensions on a "per case" basis
* All 1 game suspensions are not appealable- all others may be appealed by the Team Rep within 24
