Auto Accident Victim Letter

Use this letter to send to victims of auto accidents. You can go to your local police station and ask to see the recent accident reports. These reports are public records, but you may be charged a “duplication fee” or other small charge for this information. This letter should be on your clinic letterhead.

Dear Betty,

Based upon information that we received, we were advised that you were involved in an automobile accident recently. Having been involved in an accident myself a few years ago, I can feel the anxiety and stress that this accident can bring upon you.

(It happened to me back in 1998. I was almost stopped next to ______to make a right hand turn when a little Chevette that was going 55 mph plowed into me. At first, I didn’t notice much pain. However, a few days after the accident my neck started to really hurt. I went to an immediate care clinic and was given a cervical collar and muscle relaxers. A few weeks later the pain got worse -- I started having pain in my left eye and swelling and pain into the left side of my neck. I went to various doctors, took pills, but over the period of a year, the pain only got worse. Finally, a friend suggested I see a chiropractor. To make a long story short, chiropractic care got rid of my pain and I considered it a miracle. As it turned out, a few years later I married a chiropractor! / or: a few years later I started working for a chiropractor!)

Regardless of the damages sustained to the vehicles involved, your probability of being hurt is enormous. Very often the pain will not start right away. It may take several days or weeks before you can feel the first symptoms due to a whiplash accident.

A whiplash accident will increase the rate of arthritis 6.5 times according to current research. The insurance industry is aware of these facts and this is why it is to their benefit to have you sign a release as soon as possible. We always recommend that you see an attorney before signing anything.

Through the confusion, anxiety and stress caused by the accident, you may wonder if you have been hurt or not. I have enclosed a coupon with this letter. This is to offer you the opportunity to consult with our doctor and check if you did or did not sustain any damages from this accident. This evaluation is done at no charge. It is good for a consultation and examination, all complimentary. If you have no damages, then you could sign the insurance release with more ease knowing that you have not been hurt.

But, if you have been hurt, the doctor will give you treatment options based on your condition so you can decide what is best for you. There is no obligation to anything when you come in for a free evaluation. You will at least know more about the injury, so there is nothing to lose.

Call us (you can ask for me if you’d like) at 123-4567 and we will be glad to set up an appointment that is convenient for you.

Sincerely,

Sample Staff

P.S. I feel so strongly about this that once you receive your complimentary evaluation, we will provide you with a special cervical pillow or lumbar support pillow for free. This is our way of showing you how important we feel proper care of your spine is, and to say “thank you” for taking the time to come in to our office.
