Bridgetown Baseball Club

Letter of Commitment (10U-12U)

The mission of the Bridgetown Baseball Club (BBC) is to provide opportunities for higher level skill development, competition, and commitment to the game of baseball for youth in the N/NE Portland area. Participation in the BBC requires commitment and dedication from all participants (managers, coaches, players). Attending practices and games, as well as putting in the time and effort at home are necessary to fulfill these requirements. As a member of the Bridgetown Baseball Club,

______and his parents will abide by the following rules:

·  Make all reasonable efforts to attend scheduled events (practices, games & tournaments)

·  Provide his manager/coach with at least 24 hour notice if he is unable to attend an event.

·  Treat his teammates, coaches and opponents with respect.

·  Have a positive attitude and give his best effort at all times.

BBC will do its best to provide as much advanced notice of scheduled practices, games, and tournaments as possible. Expect 1-2 practices per week the remainder of January; 2 practices/week plus possibly 1 additional pitcher/catcher workout for February. 2-3 practices/week in March. In addition to team practices, players will have homework! These will be 15-30 minute practice sessions that players can do on their own at home or with a parent. Homework sessions will include physical and mental workouts. Players who are putting in the time and effort at home, outside of team practices, are the ones that will experience more success on the baseball field. Once notified of a tournament date, all players are expected to make every effort available to attend, and inform the manager/coach as soon as possible if they cannot make the event. Failure to attend scheduled events on a regular basis may result in the manager removing the player from the team without refund. While players are likely to play in every game, we do not guarantee minimum playing time requirements. Any concerns regarding your child’s playing time should be addressed with the team’s manager at a respectful time and in an appropriate manner.

All players and their families agree to pay the estimated $500 season fee to Bridgetown Baseball Club. This fee covers team entry fees to approximately 7 tournaments, winter workouts, and team insurance. The registration fee is due in full by February 16, 2015. In addition there will be an $18.00 AAU member registration fee for all players, board members, managers, coaches, practice assistants and chaperones. This fee will provide additional insurance coverage for all BBC players and volunteers, and provide background checks for any adult volunteer who will have any contact with players. Proof of age (copy of birth certificate for tournament qualification) if not previously provided, is due by February 1, 2015. While our registration fees are expected to cover many planned costs, all teams will need to fundraise throughout the 2015 season in order to provide the planned 45-60 game schedule. Also, additional fees may be required on a team by team basis for additional or national tournaments, travel, or unforeseen team expenses.

I have read, understand, and agree to the commitment outlined above:
