Conflict Resolution Dramas, Roll Plays or Simulations
7th and 8th grade
DUE: ______
WORTH 200 points:
100 points for content 100 points for presentation
BEFORE BEGINNING: Decide how you are going to do this assignment
(alone or with a group of NO MORE THAN 5 people)
STEP 1: Create or RE-Create a conflict (any type that is me vs myself or me vs you).
THE CONFLICT CAN BE ANYTHING INCLUDING MAKING A SERIES OF PERSONAL DECISIONS
Explain the conflict: Who was involved?
What was the actual problem or perceived problem
Why was it a conflict (how did it truly start)
What happened (explain the conflict)
What type of conflict is it?
ETC…
STEP 2: Using all of the skills you were taught in the Conflict Resolution Unit, Create at LEAST 5 possible solutions.
For each solution…identify the type of solution. Give at least 1 sentence why you think the solution is the type of solution you selected.
STEP 3: SELECT 1 of the solutions explained in step 2 and CREATE a Drama (with a script), a roll play
(without a script) or a simulation…(demonstration) showing the Conflict and a Positive Peaceful
Solution. Be prepared to answer questions about it
* = You may want to create several small/short conflicts rather than 1 long one
BE CREATIVE in your presentation. Examples include Freeze Frames, Monologues, Traditional Plays,
Talk shows, commercials etc
You may use props/costumes but
NO WEAPONS or DRUGS (real or toy)
NO changing or wearing to School. You can put on over your uniforms just for class but you’re not going
anywhere to change.
NO physical contact or fake fighting. If the conflict is about a fight, find a way to creatively demonstrate it without actually fighting and getting yourselves into trouble.
STEP 4: Projects will be presented RANDOMLY. ALL ARE DUE SAME DAY. YOU MUST BE READY
TO PRESENT WHEN YOUR GROUP IS CALLED
STEP 5: Complete the Scoring Sheet which includes things to look for. TURN IN 1 SHEET PER GROUP along with answers
IN ADDITION: If you really want to blow me away with excellence, create a handout that gets distributed to your class, a poster(s) to be displayed while you are presenting, and other teaching techniques.
TURN IN STEPS 1 AND 2 WRITTEN/TYPED IN GOOD COPIES
ALONG WITH THE SCORE SHEET HANDED TO YOU WITH THESE DIRECTIONS
(1 SHEET PER GROUP)
