The Tin Drum (1979). Director: Volker Schlöndorff

Fantastic and moving tale about the rise and fall of Nazi Germany as seen through the eyes of a "man-boy" (David Bennett) who "refuses to grow" in order to ignore the horrors around him, venting his anger through a toy drum. Director Volker Schlöndorff's drama won the Best Foreign Film Academy Award. 142 min. In German with English subtitles.
