Description:

C/70 polyurethane adhesive is a high performance product very suitable for shoe sole attaching and other specialist application.

C/70 adhesive gives very strong bonds with a large variety of materials. As a single component product it has good heat, hydrolysis and plasticizer resistance. It can be used with a curing agent to enhance its properties even further

Physical Characteristics:

Appearance / Clear with slight UV tint
Viscosity / Approx 4000cPs
Solid Content / Approx 16 – 19%
Specific Gravity / 0.84
Flammability / Highly flammable flash point = -17°C
Diluent / Cleaner / 860 solvent
Shelf Life (under recommended storage conditions) / 12 months

Recommended Usage:

1) PVC surfaces should be solvent wiped using 305UV or 860 solvent allowing a minimum drying time of 10 minutes. Polyurethane can also be solvent wiped, or if possible grit scoured, removing all traces of silicone. Rubber surfaces need not in most cases be scoured, but should be wiped with Satreat halogenation primer. Leather surfaces should be roughed with a wire brush or grit scoured. For preparation of other materials such as synthetic uppers consult the manufacturer or our Technical Services Department.

2) Apply C/70 Adhesive by brushing quickly and vigorously onto both surfaces or by machine application.

3) Leave to dry for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 2 weeks (under dry, clean conditions). Forced drying may be used to reduce open time further. When coating leather or fabrics of a porous nature two coats of C/70 Adhesive are recommended. Soling components may be pre-cemented up to 4 weeks in advance of use, provided that uppers are freshly cemented and prepared soles are stores under correct conditions.

4) When properly dry, infra-red reactivate either or both surfaces for 10 to 15 seconds at 85°C to 90°C before assembling in press. Pressure should be applied at around 80 psi for 15 to 20 seconds. If a press is not available or the bonded assembly is of an awkward shape other forms of positive, uniform pressure may be used. The initial bond formed should have good strength but it should ideally be left for 24 hours before use.

Precautions in Use:

Important: For full details please refer to the separate Material Safety Data Sheet for this Product.
