DIRECTOR, FACILITIES OPERATIONS – OAKDALE CAMPUS

The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management seeks a Director, Facilities Operations for the UI’s Oakdale Campus. This newly created role will guarantee the continuity of university operations at the Oakdale Campus by ensuring all facilities and utilities operations function at optimal levels. Duties include planning, organizing, and directing the operations, maintenance, repair and cleaning of buildings and grounds, as well as directing the operations, maintenance, and repair of the steam, water, chilled water and power production and distribution. The director will actively advance a campus master planning and strategic planning agenda, and represent the Oakdale Campus operational needs related to the design and construction of new campus buildings and renovations.

The successful candidate will lead a service organization of 30-35 FTE, with an operating budget of approximately $7 million, providing services over more than 760,000 serviceable square feet of research, technology and office space on a 201 acre campus. This leadership role will emphasize and ensure a responsive, timely and thorough service delivery to meet the needs of the UI Research Campus community. The position reports directly to the Director of Building & Landscape Services and participates in the overall Facilities Management leadership team that works to develop objectives, policies and procedures to formalize and implement the organization’s vision.

Facilities Management is beginning a strategic-based process of implementing transformational changes to the delivery of campus services and the stewardship of its physical assets. The successful candidate will bring creative and innovative analysis and solutions to implement world class maintenance practices and employ efficient and cost-effective custodial and grounds services.

Qualifications include a Master's degree plus 5-7 years’ experience in facilities management services with administrative responsibility. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also fulfill these required qualifications.
