Team project / Working in your team, design, cut and make the following, xmas buntings, calendars, xmas decorations, xmas bags and bed tidies, table runners / Work to given brief. / Saleable items for stalls.
Week 8 - 10 / Size chart and measurement
How to take body measurements and compare to pattern size charts / Notes and breakdown on how to take girth, length and width. / Exercise taking body measurements using tape measure. / Applies to all areas of pattern construction/ cutting.
Commercial patterns and tracing patterns. / Discussion/questioning and demonstrations and notes

Types of fabric
Fabric names / Glossary of fabric names and terms, cotton, linen, silk, wool. / Illustration and collection of samples. / Taking fabric type into account when considering garment.

Week 12 / Suppressions e.g. Darts. Tucks and pleats. / Notes on suppression. / Demonstration on how to do all suppression and practical exercises / For the fit of garment and to create style.
Sleeves / Notes, diagrams and discussion on various types of sleeves e.g. raglan, kimono / Students to produce story board on different types of sleeves / Used to create styles and for functional and work garments
Putting in a set of sleeves on the flat and round. / Demonstration and Practical exercises / Dresses, blouses and jackets
Putting in a gathered sleeve / Practical exercises
Week 13 / Construction of child pinafore dress / Using a basic pattern students to design, cut and sew pinafore incorporating pleats, gathers, frills etc.
