SPEEDERS BEWARE! THE HEAT IS ON 400!

This Is A Friday-the-13th

SUMMER HEAT ADVISORY:

WHAT: A SPECIAL GOHS “FRIDAY-THE-13TH TASK FORCE”

WHERE: GA-400, from the toll plazas of Metro Atlanta to the N. Georgia Mountains

WHEN: Friday, August 13, 2004, from 2PM to 8PM, (maybe longer..)

WHO: Turning-up the HEAT on Friday-the-13th with ten-times the Traffic Enforcement. Patrols from Fulton, all the way to Lumpkin County

WHY: Because a third of Georgia’s fatal traffic crashes are speed-related.

OBJECTIVE: To reduce speeding deaths on the GA-400 Corridor & surrounding roads

MEDIA INVITED: INTERVIEWS, RIDE-ALONGS & PHOTO OP

This Friday-the-13th, GA-400 becomes the highway where speeders and DUI violators should rub their rabbit’s foot then ask themselves, “HAS MY LUCK RUN OUT?”

Because this Friday-the-13th is the day law enforcement from ten agencies will coordinate their patrol coverage from the first GA-400 toll booth in Atlanta, all the way to the last 400 Corridor mile marker in North Georgia. Why? Because public safety officers and safe drivers throughout the route say speed is running out of control on GA-400, making it the “Autobahn of North Georgia.” That’s why police will be writing Friday-the-13th tickets to turn up the HEAT on summer speeders!

A spokesman from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety will join local law enforcement officials for a “ Friday-the-13th Task Force” media event at 2PM at Veterans Park, next to the Cumming Police Department on Veterans Memorial Parkway. Enforcement patrols will follow. For directions and details, contact Officer Griggs Wall, Gainesville Police Dept. at 770-534-5252, ext 1351.

The GOHS “Friday the 13th Task Force”. It’s not about superstition. It’s about saving lives. To learn more about “Summer HEAT” see our website at www.gahighwaysafety.org
